Past and present merge in Bad Moon Prize finalist novel Hache (14/01/2011)

The cycle of meetings with Hache Prize author has received this morning a writer and teacher Rosa Huertas presents his novel Bad Moon (Edelvives, 2009). More than 600 high school students have attended this morning the auditorium of the Technical University (UPCT ) to meet the final authority of Juvenile Literature contest organized by the City of Cartagena by the departments of Education and Culture.

Before meeting with the young readers, Rosa Huertas has presented the novel accompanied by the Councillor for Youth,

Ruth Collins, the author stressed that the work is proposed as a novel generations, who read the children and parents and not only entertainment but it can give way to reflection.

The work of Rosa Huertas, Bad Moon, is launching the literary world and does so through a tribute to Miguel Hernandez, the poet he most admires.

The story centers on two teenagers who begin the search together a notebook in which unaccounted for are believed to include the last lines written by Miguel Hernández.

His research will delve into the memory of their grandparents and through that search also discover each other and feelings crop up among the young as they follow the trail of the poet goatherd.

NOVEL INTERGENERATIONAL REPORT ON HISTORICAL RICA

Featuring teenage protagonists, the author has been a way of connecting with young readers, however, Huertas acknowledges that in reality the true protagonists of the book are his grandparents, who lived through the Civil War each on one side, so that the novel will also appeal to parents and provide food for thought.

With the novel can discover the history of Miguel Hernandez, who joined the Republican side and was imprisoned by Franco to end the Civil War.

The aim of Huertas was not that the readers know a wonderful poet, but offer a piece of entertainment and reflection.

She explained that her relationship with Miguel Hernandez, who has been present as the linchpin of his first book, is due to the memory of Jose Castillo, a cellmate of the poet during his confinement in jail of Alicante where sick and died.

Through the stories of the daughter of Castillo, a friend of the University of Rosa Huertas, she could know the memories of the famous poet oriolano and literature become common memories of both men during those turbulent times in the history of Spain.

In the words of Rosa Huertas, the play is the story of the bad moon Miguel Hernandez took over his life, when it seemed he would get what he wanted Civil War broke out and everything collapsed, and how to milk goats and dreams.

THE AUTHOR

Huertas Rosa is Professor of Language and Literature in a Madrid school and spent years in contact with young people and books, even did his doctoral thesis on juvenile literature.

However, he has wanted to experiment with literature from the other side of the barrier, has turned his hobby and passion in their work. Bad Moon is his first feature, and the context has been chosen to present the Award to make it known Hache .

After Bad Moon, Huertas has published a second novel called Eye, Cursed and in love (with whom he has won the award for Walk in May 2010), which also revolves around another big Spanish literature, Lope de Vega.

After the meeting with readers in the UPCT, Rosa Huertas has continued to present the novel on a visit to Pedro Peñalver Institute to maintain a more intimate discussion with students at this school.

This afternoon at 17.00 hours, the writer will visit the Intercultural Center of The Graduate, recently remodeled, presenting his book and talk to young men living in reading committees registered through the center.

HACHE AWARD 2011

Hache Award to encourage reading among adolescents is recognized to be the most democratic country, as readers are the jury itself.

In the event, which brought together six writers of the front line between the Award and its youth version Mandarache, Hache Prize, is getting more than 3,000 young people in Cartagena are now reading the same books.

Bad Moon rise for 2011 with Record Award Pania Hache (Edebé, 2009), Michael Sandin, and Ok, Mr. Foster (Edelvives, 2009), the recent National Award for Children's Literature, Eliacer Cansino.

The voting on this traditional literary prize will take place in April.
