An accessible route favors the 'Tourism for All' in Cartagena (07/12/2010)

With the collaboration of Fundación ONCE and Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, walking through the main tourist centers of the city have a GPS guide, information panels with captions, ramps and other accessibility insfraestructuras

The City of Cartagena and Cartagena Puerto de Culturas bet on the accessibility to provide a cultural product quality interpretation facilities, sites and museums, especially people with mobility problems, hearing or vision.

The new accessible route covers the main sights of the city and the Castillo de la Concepción, Refugio Civil War Museum, Tourist Boat, Fort Christmas Museum Roman Theatre.

In the design of the route has had resources such as GPS Guide, launched by the City of Cartagena.

This guide acts as a new tourist resort since it incorporates the audio expertise and the ability to text and images.

COLLABORAT "N with the Foundation" No ONCE

ONCE Foundation has collaborated on technical advice and audit the proposed itinerary, through its holding company and the entity FUNDOSA ACCESSIBILITY Via Libre.

Via Libre is an advisory body of CERMI (Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities) in universal accessibility, and is dedicated to the design and adaptation of environments, products and services that may be destined for use and enjoyment of all people.

The new route has been validated by the staff of Via Libre and Cartagena Port of Cultures within the parameters of national, state and local governments, and through the experience of the ONCE Foundation.

PLEASE NOTE SPECIALIST

In the design of the course has been taken into account the specialized care for users with mobility problems, vision problems and hearing problems.

For users with mobility problems, have been careful vertical circulation elements (floors, ramps and stairs), connecting elements of the routes for travel within the path avoiding the obstacles that can cause dangerous situations, appropriate signage, etc.

For people with vision problems, was taken into account the well-conceived use of lighting and colors and contrasts of materials and textures used in museums, which are essential to provide information.

For people with hearing problems have been provided interpretive panels with printed text and videos, as well as incorporating GPS guides written and which play a key role in this type of disability.
