In March the fourteenth edition of Between Strings and Metals The classical music competition for young talent in the region, organized each year by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory, started in November with the concert series promotion i (11/11/2010)

Youth Councillor, Ruth Collins, accompanied by the head teacher of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Pedro Martínez, today presented the schedule of the fourteenth edition of Between String and Metal, classical music competition for young musicians in the Region Murcia, which will open this November with promotional concerts will be held at the conservatories of Cartagena, Orihuela and Murcia, with the winners of the last edition as protagonists.

Pedro Martinez, also responsible for the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra, which will accompany the young musicians in these concerts, claimed that during the tests have found that the level of the performers is higher than in previous editions.

The competition, which is organized from the beginning by the Department of Youth and the Conservatory, including seven specialty is music, piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, guitar, percussion, singing, and is the only of its kind to be held in the region.

CONTEST ON STEP BY STEP

The Conservatory is in charge of running the event, providing the necessary infrastructure, with the power to appoint judges also participating in the competition, differentiated according to each of the categories and comprised of professionals from the various academies and research centers entire region of Murcia, making public the names of their components in advance of each of the auditions.

The categories covered in this contest are:

PIANO

STRING (violin, viola, cello, bass)

GUITAR

WOODWIND (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, bassoon)

Brass (trombone, trumpet, French horn, tuba)

Percussion "N

CANTO

Can participate in this contest students who are pursuing professional studies in music at any of the categories mentioned above, born or who can prove their residence in the region of Murcia, as well as students who are studying music in one of the specialties called at any musical Study Center Conservatory of the Region.

(Those born or resident in the Murcia region also have to prove they are enrolled in a conservatory or Center of Musical Studies).

This year is set, as in previous editions, each of the forms two phases: an elimination and final, where contestants will perform two works of free choice.

The economic value amounts reserved for awards to the amount of 7,700 euros.

(There will be a first prize in each of the modalities of 750 euros and a second prize of 350 euros).

The competition organizers with the collaboration of other entities such as the Ministry of Education, Training and Employment "General Directorate of Vocational and Adult Education, and the Conservatories of Murcia and Orihuela.

PROMOTIONAL CONCERT SERIES

One of the main purposes and Metals Among Strings is promoting young musical talent in the region.

The idea is not only to encourage young people through participation in the competition but also help to enhance their training with various initiatives.

Thus, we have organized for the fifth consecutive year, the concerts as the best way to promote them and make them known.

These concerts provide an opportunity for the winners of last year, to participate as soloists, together with the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra in three concerts that take place in Murcia, Orihuela and Cartagena.

In addition, the Contest Closing will be offered the opportunity to one of the winners of last year playing solo again with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, a ceremony to be held in the Auditorium of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.

COMPETITION CALENDAR

Application deadline: End of January 18, 2011.

Entries will be delivered to the Department of Youth, on weekdays from 9.00 to 14.00

Will be two phases in the competition.

An initial screening will take place on the following dates during the month of March:

and a final stage, where they will play only those who have been selected in the first phase, which will take place during the month of April.

Auditions will be held in the Auditorium of the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Cartagena, C / Jorge Juan, s / n.

Awards ceremony and closing concert of the competition: May 6.

It will announce the decision of the jury in all modes.

Will be held in the auditorium of the UPCT.

Admission to the concert promotions, competitions and auditions to closing concert will be free to fill seats.
