Cartagena Civil Protection rescued 238 people on the beaches during July and August (03/09/2010)

The parts of the Civil Protection of the City of Cartagena 10 489 interventions performed on beaches during July and August, the two busiest months on the coasts and in which the device is at full capacity.

Among the figures released by the Director General of Security, Carlos Nieto, the rescue of 238 people who were in tight situations in the water.

The greatest number of times this summer - 6735 - corresponded to the so-called social services provided by the guards, whose largest number-6213-have been consultations and information needs of the swimmers, while stressing the location of 32 missing persons and help to 482 disabled swimmers.

This year has been less than the number of times and first-aid cures: 3,724, his reason being in a smaller presence of jellyfish in coastal areas.
