The journey along the coast of Cartagena ended after 22:30 h swim (26/08/2010)

Had fallen since the evening of Wednesday 25 August when the last relay reached the beach of El Mojon in Isla Plana, near 21:30

The remaining few meters performed by the four swimmers together, Javier Sanchez Palencia Paz, Agustín Sánchez, Emilio Hernández, until he landed on the beach of boulders that make up the mouth of the Wadi Valdelentisco, and makes the boundary between the municipalities of Cartagena and Mazarrón.

This stretch of coast is precisely one of the fastest urban growth in recent years on the coast of the Region.

This completes the first successful swim across for coastal conservation of Cartagena.

Several hours before the crossing of Cape Tiñoso put in serious difficulties for swimmers, despite the east-northeast wind, which had risen swell waves in the waters of Cape environment, and pushing them in a favorable sense, they needed a two hours to achieve victory against the strong current, the SW, which remained from the previous day and not allowed to move forward.

Meanwhile, a group enjoyed the wind Cory's shearwaters skimming the water on the waves, passing swimmers.

The journey lasted continuously from 23:00 h on 24, which departed from the beach of Mont Blanc in La Manga (the boundary between the municipalities of Cartagena and San Javier) until 21:30 the day 25.

The swimmers were accompanied throughout the journey by boat and a dinghy Else ASEAN.

During the night and early Tuesday to Wednesday a canoeist was at any time before the swimmer, while the support staff established surveillance shifts to avoid accidents or hazards to navigation, and reported regularly to the Cartagena Salvage.

In Cabo Negrete, at dawn, the current was too difficult against swimming.

The journey traveled the coasts of valuable natural areas at local, regional and international levels: seagrass meadows of La Manga, Marine Reserve of Cabo de Palos-Islas Hormigas, costs Calblanque Regional Park, Mount of Ashes and Peña Eagle, Sierra de La Fausilla, Protected Area-Cabo La Muela Tiñoso.

Also swam against areas hit hard by human action, as the bay of Portman or tailings, and other threats such as Cala Reona or the Sierra de La Fausilla.

Like last night, accompanied by a full moon night sailing on the return to the yacht port of Cartagena Else and participants in an unforgettable experience.

ANSE, swimmers, family and participants hope that activities like this help increase the appreciation and awareness of people and political representatives for our landscapes and coastal heritage, and help stop new attacks on a heritage to be preserved also for our enjoyment and future generations, if possible, even better than they have received.
