UPyD denounced the illegal occupation of public space in the Plaza de la Marina de Santa Lucia for a facility owned by a Socialist councilor and permission by the City (21/07/2010)

UPyD believes that public spaces should be respected and should not be infringed its use as they are intended for use or enjoyment group

La Plaza de la Marina, one of the most unique and iconic in the neighborhood of "fishermen", located next to the Santiago Apostol Church of Santa Lucia is continuously occupied by members from private oblivious to the nature of such beautiful gazebo which limit the passage of numerous bystanders and prevent traffic normalized by a building in the public domain.

The Department of Celebration has authorized the holding of the festivities in the Plaza de la Marina de Santa Lucia, where is located the Seafood Restaurant "La Marina" ownership of a Socialist councilor, which has permanently installed a kiosk in the Plaza Municipal unlicensed.

The celebration of the holidays at this site involves cutting the circulation in the Paseo de las Delicias with the consequent danger to pedestrians.

It is incomprehensible that the council authorize the holding of celebrations of the festivals at the site where you can celebrate in a larger venue, such as the Plaza de Molina, thereby preventing the cutting of circulation and the inconvenience that this leads to neighbors and visitors.

UPyD-Cartagena Team Government requires the City of Cartagena to leave the treatment of favoritism with their councilors and within the law to ensure the protection of the integrity of public space and the safety of their fellow citizens.
