One of the exhibition halls of the Consistorial Palace already honors the memory of Cartagena artist Nicomedes Gómez (22/04/2018)

- Despite the fact that part of the plenary agreement has been fulfilled, the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, recalled that the organization of an exhibition is still pending in some of the spaces in Cartagena specially equipped for this, "a retrospective of the whole of works that Nicomedes donated to his native city, among them, the famous collection of Don Quixote, and his mystical and esoteric collection "

The Municipal Group of Citizens today thanked the Government of Cartagena for its speed to fulfill the plenary agreement promoted by Cs so that the room that serves as an artistic gallery known as' Subjective Room 'on the first floor of the Palace Hall, will be renamed' Sala Subjective-Nicomedes Gómez 'in recognition of this unrepeatable artist.

The orange training spokesman, Manuel Padín, recalled that in the February plenary session, his group presented a motion for the City Council to take the necessary steps to enhance the work of the great Cartagena painter and illustrator.

Although part of the initiative has been fulfilled, Manuel Padín has indicated that the organization of an exhibition is still pending in some of the spaces in Cartagena especially enabled for this, "a retrospective of the set of works that Nicomedes donated to his hometown , among them, the famous collection of Don Quixote, and its mystical and esoteric collection ".

"A land that does not take care of its artistic legacy is a land that walks towards intellectual poverty," Padin has warned that "it can not take more than 16 years without the citizens of Cartagena can enjoy the mystical vision of this immortal Cartagena ";

in this sense, the orange spokesman has announced that Citizens will take to the next ordinary plenary several questions to clarify when and where the retrospective of Nicomedes Gómez will be exhibited.

For Manuel Padín, "it is unforgivable that public representatives have ignored these works of art, the last time they saw the works of the mystical and esoteric series was in a 2001 exhibition in the Exhibition Hall of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena which was organized among other entities, by the City Council, where 12 works of municipal ownership were exhibited, three of them acquired by the Consistory in 1980, and the other nine ceded in 1984 by Nicomedes Gómez after his death, "Manuel Padín reported. regrets that "the life and work of Nicomedes Gómez is studied in France but suffers public indolence in his own land."

"In Ciudadanos we believe that 16 years without seeing the work of this unrepeatable artist is an insult to his memory and the City Council must react," concludes the Cs spokesman.
