More than 1,100 students from schools in Cartagena will attend on April 17 and 18 at the show '¡Sakapatú!

A journey through the Andean music ', an initiative of the Obra Social "la Caixa" that will be carried out with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena.

The presentation was held today April 12 by the mayor of the area of ​​Culture, Youth and Education, David Martinez;

and the director of the Business Area of ​​Caixa Bank in Cartagena, Carlos Merelo.

The mayor has reported that the school concerts will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center on April 17 and 18 in two functions per day at 10 am and 12 am.

"It is about the production of the Peruvian-Chilean group Sakapatú, in which we will make a tour of the original rhythms and rhythms of the Inca Empire, with influences contributed by the Spanish Renaissance music and the subsequent African rhythms of the slaves brought to Peru" , Martínez explained.

Likewise, he pointed out that this will be carried out "combining ancient and modern instruments, inspired by musical traditions from different periods and origins and focusing part of his repertoire on Afro-Peruvian music, a musical genre that is also very little known", he added. councilor.

Martínez has highlighted the opportunity of attending the show, "which will bring this music to schoolchildren from different schools and also do didactic work," thanks to the material that Obra Social la Caixa also offers.

The materials will consist of a CD that will be provided to schoolchildren to understand this music and a dossier with examples and illustrations, "a work that in addition to seeing the concert, can be centered in the educational center".

For his part, Merelo thanked the City of Cartagena for the opportunity to unite culture and education and to reach so many people with this group that has brought a "totally differentiated proposal".

He has also shown his clear commitment to Cartagena to reach many more projects and has taken the opportunity to remember that the work is in its Social Volunteer Week, for which there are colleagues distributed by associations with people who need it a lot.

SAKAPATÚ IN A PEDAGOGICAL DAY

The project has not wanted to remain alone in the part of the show, "and a pedagogical day has been held for the music teachers of the Educational Centers of Cartagena", with the aim that they can work together with the students before attending the concerts .

During the day of April 17, CEIP Mare Nostrum, CEIP Mastia, CEIP Anibal, CEIP Mare Nostrum, IES El Cano, CEIP Antonio Oliver and CEIP Concepción Arenal will attend.

On the other hand, during the April 18 will attend the centers CEIP Vicente Medina, CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina, CEIP Feliciano Sanchez, CEIP Asdrubal, CEIP Adoratrices, CEIP Cuatro Santos and CEIP Virgen del Carmen.

Finely the mayor explained that the Obra Social la Caixa has also made available to the centers that are located away from the Cultural Center Ramón Alonso Luzzy several free buses so they can attend the concert.
