"Master's degrees in Spain have a very high prestige" (10/04/2018)

A packed auditorium of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has received this afternoon the economist Daniel Lacalle, one of the most influential in the world according to the ranking Richtopia, which places it second, only after the Nobel Prize winner Paul Krugman.

Lacalle has advocated in his talk and, before the media, "to continue the efforts of recent years reducing deficit and public spending, the opposite of what we hear from politicians" before the symptoms of slowdown and end of the upward cycle .

"Winter is coming," he assured, paraphrasing "Game of Thrones."

In the talk, entitled 'The big trap', as his latest book, has warned of the risks of a new financial crisis due to "the current expansive monetary policies that are accentuating the debt, generating large imbalances, which is already causing falls in stock exchanges and capital outflows of some markets, "he told the Communication Service of the UPCT.

Asked about the image of the postgraduate studies that is being generated as a result of the case of Cristina Cifuentes, Lacalle, professor at the UNED, of the Institute of Business and the Institute of Stock Market Studies, has remarked "the prestige of the studies and the master's degrees that are taught in Spain is very high.

Students should know that titles in themselves do not mean anything, what matters is the knowledge and value they bring. "

In reference to the students, Lacalle has recommended "reinforce the knowledge in terms of entrepreneurship and foreign trade, beyond the language, which is the great stumbling block and a very serious handicap in Spain".

He has also suggested that they "work in non-regulated competitions, such as public speaking or selling skills.

They should be less complacent and know that the University can not give it all done, studying a career is only part of their training.

I am especially concerned about students who do not read the bibliography of the subjects, but expect that the professors will transfer the knowledge of those books.

The University can not be paternalistic, "he concluded.

The Region of Murcia, "well prepared"

The economist invited by the UPCT has indicated that the Region of Murcia, especially, and Spain as a whole "are well prepared" for the change of economic cycle because "it has reduced the indebtedness of companies and trade deficits, through the increase in exports ".

The current challenge is, according to Lacalle, to increase the added value, not so much the volume, of foreign trade.

Daniel Lacalle, president of the Mises Institute, an educational organization dedicated to the teaching of the Austrian school of economics, has also defended the elimination of "excessive protection of labor regulation" and tax reductions, including the elimination of Inheritance Tax and the elimination of Economic activities.
