MC: Hundreds of families from Cartagena and its region, waiting for the regional government to grant aid to the unit (05/04/2018)

The autonomous government also discriminates against the inhabitants of Cartagena in a matter so sensitive. A total of 648 families are waiting to enter the system of benefits and services after being ruled their records

Faced with the failure of the regional government not to strengthen the Assessment and Guidance Unit of the Murcia Institute of Social Action in Cartagena, the president of MC, Jesús Giménez, has denounced that "in terms of dependency, we suffer, as in many other matters, the disinterest of the superior administrations ".

Giménez recalled that "the IMAS office in Cartagena corresponds to the entire region."

"No human or material resources are allocated, they do not do it because they do not allocate enough money for these aids," he added.

"For this reason, accelerating those reports that make families wait for sometimes up to a year is not a priority for them, because then they could not pay for the aid," explained the Cartagena president, generating "a social problem that affects many families and that does not stop growing ".

By reviewing the statistics on February 28, 2018, a total of 4,525 services and services were performed, corresponding to 3,620 beneficiaries, compared to 5,173 reports made and 5,329 requests.

The difference between the files issued and the services and services provided, there is a difference of 648 people waiting to enter the system.

It should also be noted that between January 2017 and 2018 there has been an increase of 289 applications.

It has been demonstrated that the Assessment and Orientation Unit of Cartagena is insufficient in its functional structure, accusing a lack of specialized personnel to expedite the different files in dependence;

that the transfer to the Campos de Cartagena street building has resulted in a failure in the informative and explanatory part for the dependents and relatives of Cartagena, who sometimes have to move to the central offices of Alonso Espejo and Greco streets in Murcia, and that the delays In resolutions and their implementation, they are detrimental to users and family members, both in terms of economic costs and user service in their different dependency disabilities in a comprehensive service for lack of service or provision.

An unacceptable situation

Jesús Giménez has considered that "in 2017, there were 583 families, who with all the reports were waiting to join the system, in 2018, in February, there are already 648, and the regional government offers no solution."

It is, in the words of the Cartagena leader, "an irresponsibility inherited from Valcárcel, from PAS, and that López Miras now maintains and does not solve".

Given this situation, Giménez concluded, "it is necessary that parties like MC accede to the Assembly so that the politicians favor the dependents, the families, and the great forgotten regional, which is the Campo de Cartagena, also in terms of dependency with the IMAS. "

World Autism Day

The president of MC added that "this damage to families who need assistance to the unit extends to other areas of special sensitivity, such as care for children with special needs."

"This week we celebrated the World Day of Autism Awareness and, at this time, we asked the PP and Cachá to demonstrate awareness, increasing the support teachers for these students, which reduced to one every 18, when it was one every 14 before of the crisis In MC we do not understand that the cuts are for families and children, and society either.
