Citizens reproach Cartagena City Council for failing to comply with their motion to combat bullying (31/03/2018)

- Cs spokesperson in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has pointed out "that municipal education services should not be excluded from this phenomenon, but should ensure compliance with the measures that are being implemented progressively from the Ministry, and establish instruments to face a complex and changing form of violence at an early age "

The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena today criticized the Government of Cartagena for their indifference and inaction to combat bullying.

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, recalled that almost seven months have passed since the Plenary gave the green light to the creation, within the Municipal School Council, of a work table where teachers are represented, the AMPAS of the schools of the city, the Ministry of Education, the political groups and experts in the matter that advise on this problem and that meets, at least, once every three months.

The orange spokesman has pointed out "that the municipal educational services can not remain on the margin of this problem, but must ensure compliance with the measures that are being implemented progressively from the Ministry, and establish instruments to deal with a complex and changing form of violence at an early age. "

"The City Council has to play a leading and active role, enrich and update the present and future protocols of educational centers," said Padin.

Citizens also asked that the annual campaigns be strengthened by the City Council and the Local Police to raise awareness of the importance of tackling bullying and the organization of activities aimed at teachers, families, and students to facilitate the detection of this form of abuse in all its forms.

The local spokesman of Citizens has recalled that his Parliamentary Group presented in December 2015 an initiative to activate the protocol KiVa prevention against bullying, which was eventually rejected by the opposition Popular Party and Podemos.

Manuel Padín has reported that it is a protocol that works worldwide with a success rate of more than 70% and that has already been successfully implemented in several regions of Spain, including Cartagena, "the Miralmonte School, located in the polygon of Santa Ana, has launched it, is the first and only center of the Community that has incorporated this system, which focuses on addressing the problem from prevention, intervention and monitoring.

Citizens with regional education

In the opinion of Manuel Padín, Citizens is a party especially sensitized to improve the quality of education, life and physical and mental health of students, "that is why we have proposed this municipal board, so we proposed at the regional level a plan against harassment school and for that reason we have achieved a comprehensive health plan with the incorporation of school nursing in our educational centers, we have managed to allocate three million euros from this year's budgets to the implementation of the first phase of this project, and recently we included defibrillators in that plan. "

"In a few years, as our regional deputy, Juan José Molina, said, the nurse will be part of the school landscape, as is already the counselor or psychologist," said Padin.
