Citizens get the Government to develop an Integral Plan to improve urban transport in Cartagena (22/03/2018)

- Citizens regrets the refusal of PSOE and the PP to seek answers to the demands of the residents of Buenos Aires at a work table

On the occasion of the information published by the newspaper La Verdad regarding the bus service in La Palma, and that published by the newspaper La Opinion about the failure to comply with the motion approved in the Plenary to start up a bus service connecting the localities of Los Urrutias with Los Nietos and El Algar, Citizens has defended today a motion to demand the City of Cartagena to stop patches and address once and for all the shortcomings in the collective transport service in a global manner.

Manuel Padín has stated that "we can not get to work only when the neighbors explode, a report is required with a detailed, ordered and prioritized analysis of the many needs that exist, which is not only in La Palma or Los Urrutias."

For this, Citizens has proposed to develop an Integral Plan for the optimization of collective transport of passengers by road in the municipality that has as a previous base the realization, by the municipal technicians, of a detailed report on the needs in urban transport that exist in Cartagena.

Residential Buenos Aires

Residents of the Residential Buenos Aires in Molinos Marfagones collected a few thousand weeks ago a few thousand signatures with the aim of reducing isolation and abandonment and to demand the facilities and services promised by public administrations for years.

Residents of Buenos Aires, more than 300 people, require the construction of a roundabout access to the intersection with the RM 332, as well as a bicycle lane or cycle path to Molinos Marfagones, as the one that already exists between Santa Ana and its Polygon .

They consider urgent an improvement in the frequency of passage of the public service of buses so that it adapts its schedule to the real needs of the neighbors.

In addition, they have requested the construction of a social space for activities and neighborhood meetings and new sports and recreational facilities.

They also consider it necessary that the City Council and the Community apply measures that favor and promote the birth of a commercial area and an educational center.

On the occasion of these claims, the Citizens Group has requested today in the Plenary session through a motion defended by the spokesperson for Citizens, Manuel Padín, that a Working Table be set up with the participation of all the municipal groups, City Council technicians and of the Community and a representation of the residents of Residencial Buenos Aires, "the objective was to find a consensus solution for all these problems, but as the PSOE block and the PP are not working, they will have to explain now why they voted like that to the neighbors ", lamented Manuel Padín.

The proposal has been rejected by the votes against PP and PSOE and has counted with the abstention of CTSSP-Podemos and MC.

In the subsequent debate, the spokesman has criticized the spokeswoman of Podemos, Pilar Marcos, his arguments for not supporting this motion, "has preferred to use the debate time to make another of the infumables political meetings of Podemos, plagued with lies, stockings Conspiranoid truths and disorders. "

Manuel Padín has assured that he will continue trying to find other ways to solve the problems of these neighbors.

Cartagena adheres to REDS

At the beginning of 2015, the Spanish Network for Sustainable Development (REDS) was born.

One of its objectives is to mobilize and sensitize Spanish society, public institutions and the private sector to become more aware of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as to promote the incorporation of these challenges into public policies.

The REDS aims to help entities in the resolution of practical problems on sustainable development and focuses its activity on four priority areas: energy, water, biodiversity and gender.

The Municipal Citizens Group has proposed today that the City Council adhere to this network;

the proposal has received the support of all the political groups.

According to the councilor of Cs, Alfredo Nieto, "with its inclusion, Cartagena will be able to learn about sustainable development projects organized by members of the network, that is, local or regional initiatives that can make important contributions to sustainable development; advised for the diagnosis of the challenges in this area of local character and for the elaboration of strategies ".

For his part, the spokesman for Citizens explained that "we have said on multiple occasions, Cartagena can not live isolated from the world, and so far, has been excluded from all the collaboration networks that have been promoted at the national level and that it is something that our Municipal Group is knowing how to correct with their motions. "

2030 Agenda

In September 2015, the Network of Solutions for Sustainable Development (SDSN), the parent company of REDS, launched a global declaration for the cities on the occasion of the approval of the New Sustainability Agenda.

The motion that Citizens has defended today has also included the adhesion of the Consistory to this declaration.

Alfredo Nieto explained that "REDS and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) support this manifesto and have urged all Spanish municipalities to sign this Declaration of commitment of cities with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and hopes that gradually, the rest of the municipalities of the Community join these noble objectives ".
