The second most influential economist in the world will warn UPCT of the risk of a new financial crisis (21/03/2018)

The next April 10, at 12 noon, the economist Daniel Lacalle will deliver in the auditorium Isaac Peral of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) the conference 'The Great Trap: How Spain can be prepared for the end of the stimuli ', within the framework of the Economy and Society Forum.

Lacalle is among the Top 20 of the most influential economists in the world 2016 (Richtopia ranking).

Currently at number 2, after Paul Krugman, and is Top Economics and Finance Blogs of 2018, from FocusEconomics.

Daniel Lacalle (Madrid, 1967) holds a PhD in Economics, graduated in Economics and Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid and later completed his studies with a postgraduate degree at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, with the title of financial analyst International (CIIA) and a Master's Degree in Economic Research from the Catholic University of Valencia.

He has been a professor at Instituto de Empresa (IE), at the Institute of Stock Market Studies (IEB) and at the UNED.

His professional career began in March 1991 at Repsol, where he spent eleven years and became head of international relations and export manager.

He later moved to Enagás and ABN Amro, specializing in energy and oil.

He reoriented his career as a portfolio manager starting to work for the Citadel hedge fund in 2005, and from there he moved to Ecofin Limited in 2007. Between 2014 and 2015 he worked for PIMCO for a few months, one of the largest managers of global investment assets in fixed income, assuming one of the group's vice-presidencies.

Since 2015 he is the investment director of Tressis Gestión.

In addition, since 2017 he chairs the Mises Institute, an educational organization dedicated to the teaching of the Austrian school of economy and market economy.

He is the author of several books translated into English, Chinese and Portuguese, which have sold more than 50,000 copies as a whole.

His books have been presented at major forums such as the Federal Reserve of Houston, the Heritage Foundation in Washington, or the London School of Economics, the Funds Society Forum in Miami, Forecast Summit in Peru, and other global forums.

Its latest publication is entitled 'The Great Trick' and it warns of the risks of incubating a new financial crisis by the monetary policy of central banks.

He writes a weekly column in El Español, and regularly collaborates on CNBC, BBC, Hedge Eye, Real Vision, El Mundo, Intereconomía, 13TV, Espejo Público, La Sexta, The Commentator, and The Wall Street Journal.
