Emilio Gutiérrez Caba heads the cast of 'After the rehearsal', the most autobiographical work by Ingmar Bergman, a piece about the inexorable passage of time, the decadence of the body against the impulse of desires and the need to act, which rises tomorrow Saturday, March 17 at the tables of the New Theater Circus, scheduled by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.

The performance will be at 9:30 p.m.

The play narrates the life of an old theatrical director who immerses himself in his memories until he is interrupted by the entrance of Anna, a passionate and young actress, ready to sacrifice everything for art, and Rakel, a neurotic and alcoholic woman who was your lover

Thus the three will evoke his sentimental life.

Faced with this situation, Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, Chusa Barbero and Rocío Peláez will give life to their protagonists under the direction of Juan José Alfonso.

After the rehearsal is the work, the testament as a theater man of a mature Bergman, who self-analyzes in an implacable, sincere and tormented way ... This work is a reflection on life that is not wanted or can not be lived.

It is also the demonstration of the existence of certain emotionally unbalanced human behaviors that, inevitably, are repeated and, therefore, make it impossible, even if it is attempted from love, that they can be supported or forgiven.

Bergman speaks to us in this work of the tragedy of the lack of love, of the assumption of loneliness and of the defeat of the beliefs before the devastating step of life.

The origin of 'After the rehearsal' is a film for television that Ingmar Bergman shot in 1984;

he had written the script four years before and in it he introduced an old theater director, himself, who after a rehearsal appears two women: one is a young actress willing to sacrifice everything for art, and the other an old lover.

Emilio Gutiérrez Caba plays the old director, an imitation of Ingmar Bergman, who said of this work that it was destined to be "a pleasant episode on my way to death".

There are tickets to see this play this Saturday.

They can be purchased at the box office of Nuevo Teatro Circo de Cartagena and on its website www.nuevoteatrocirco.com
