Citizens regrets the lack of response and certainty that still suffer workers in the taxi sector in Cartagena (15/03/2018)

- The orange line-up has also regretted that today the ordinance of the taxi sector remains in the air

On the occasion of the meeting held today by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, with the Association of Autonomous Taxi Workers, the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, recalled that the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, said that would give his unconditional support to Murcia taxi drivers so that the planned stop at the new international airport of Corvera was reserved exclusively for taxi drivers in the municipality of Murcia.

Manuel Padín recalls that Mr. Ballesta went further and recalled that it protected them "both the Regional Law of the Taxi Sector of 2014 and the Murcia Municipal Ordinance of 2015, which establishes that municipal corporations are the only ones that have the capacity to give the permissions to exercise their work within the municipality.Furthermore, the popular mayor of Murcia warned that the Local Police of the neighboring city is also the only one that will have competitions at Corvera airport to prevent taxis from other municipalities working there.

This is what is said in Murcia, in Cartagena, the spokesman also popular, Francisco Espejo, said through a statement that as it is a regional airport should "preserve the equality of conditions and the right to work in the sector of the taxi, "and said he would meet with the Minister of Development to find solutions.

According to the Cs spokesperson, "we believe that the Cartagena PP has had enough time to meet with the Minister of Development, Pedro Rivera, and we assume that his efforts will have already borne fruit, but if he has not done so, we will urge the mayor of Cartagena to do it, and to offer answers and certainty to the workers of this sector ".

On the other hand, the spokesman for Citizens also recalled that his Group wanted to clarify in the ordinary plenary session of November 2017 the current status of the Sector Viability Plan and to know when the City Council had planned to resolve the allegations to the future ordinance. " At the time, the MC councilor, Isabel García, responded that "the Plan did not have a termination date, because the relationship is dynamic, and that they are in permanent contact with taxi groups, and that the real challenge was in the strategic plan of transport, and that therefore is a challenge at the regional level ".

When MC went to the opposition, he registered a motion asking the City Council to urgently "develop" the Viability Plan for the Taxi Sector and the approval of the ordinance, "see to believe, MC in the Government launches balls out, and from the opposition is transformed and ordered to promote projects.

"The taxi sector does not deserve this treatment from its politicians", concludes Manuel Padín, who has asked the City Council to resolve as soon as possible their doubts and fears about the municipal ordinances, about their ability to carry out their work at Corvera Airport , and regulate the control of the days of release of the workers and the amortization of licenses, among other matters.
