The Nursing Faculty of the UCAM organizes its first Patient Support Meetings at the Los Dolores Campus (08/03/2018)

The Catholic University promotes seven events, which begin this Monday, March 12, in which professionals and the sick will offer students, health professionals and the population in general personal experiences linked to the support offered by seven socio-health entities.

The experience of overcoming cancer, how to live after the amputation of a leg, working with drug addicts in prison, caring for the elderly, helping those who have eating disorders, the importance of emotional support or caring for people who have suffered burns These are the topics that will be addressed in the First Patient Support Meetings organized by the School of Nursing of the San Antonio Catholic University in the Campus of the Cartagena neighborhood of Los Dolores.

Specifically, the UCAM has planned to hold seven talks in the auditorium of its Campus in Cartagena during the months of March, April and May, in which professionals and patients will share their personal experiences after their association with socio-health associations and Attendees may raise their doubts.

The first meeting will be on March 12 at 12:30 with the Fundación Jesus Abandoned, the second will be on March 22 at 9:00 h.

with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (in which a person who has overcome this disease will explain their experiences in the first person), the third on April 12 will consist of a talk about the care of patients with burns given by Dr. Ramón A Moreno, member of the Murcian Society of Plastic Surgery, and the fourth will be on April 16 at 12:30 h.

with members of the Phone of Hope.

The activities will continue on April 20 at 12:30 pm with the Afectamur collective that will talk about eating disorders;

On April 25, Ramón Cuesta, from the Valencian Association for Assistance to Excluded Persons, will explain his experience in the management and coordination of social projects in the penitentiary sector, while on May 18 at 12:30 p.m., the president of the National Association of Amputees of Spain (ANDADE), will make known his life experience since he lost a leg.

All these activities are aimed at students of the Degree in Nursing as well as professionals in the sector and the population in general, they are free and of free access, with the possibility of receiving a certificate of assistance in the case of attending, at least, 50% of scheduled meetings.
