Growing Together, XXV years of the infant third of The Coronation of Thorns (01/03/2018)

The exhibition 'Growing Together, XXV years of the children's third of The Coronation of Thorns', is one of the activities that the group of The Coronation of Thorns of the Cofradía California has organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its children's third.

The activity has the collaboration of the City of Cartagena and was inaugurated on Wednesday, February 28, with the presence of the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez.

It will remain open to the public, in the municipal exhibition hall of the Byzantine Wall, until Sunday, March 18.

In the exhibition, the group has condensed, through a structured tour in three different spaces, the main historical milestones of this children's third.

Also its most idiosyncratic characteristics, generating a space of memory, emotion and memory for all those who throughout these years have participated in the activities proposed by the California group.

'Creciendo Juntos' gathers some of the main administrative documents that left in writing some of the most significant events of the entity.

The exhibition gathers, for the first time since 2004, all the sketches and clay models of the sculptural group 'El Sermón de la Montaña', by Cadiz artist Luis González.

These sketches will be exhibited together with the final result of his work, and also with the carvings that the image maker made in 2006 to complete the decoration of the children's throne.

Likewise, a series of personal memories linked with the institution are exhibited.

In addition, the main novelties are shown, which will be added this year to the patrimony of the entity and the incarnate brotherhood: four new pennants, designed by Adrián Baeza and embroidered in the workshop of María del Carmen Morales.

Lastly, the municipal exhibition hall of the Byzantine Wall has a static display of costumes and embroidery.

In addition, a documentary is projected, specially edited for this occasion.

The exhibition is curated by Adrián Baeza, and has been possible thanks to the participation of entities such as: the City of Cartagena, the Pontifical, Royal and Illustrious Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus in the Painful Step of Prendimiento and Hope of the Salvation of the Almas (Californios), and the sponsorship and collaboration of Caja Mediterráneo Foundation, El Corte Inglés, BMW Cartagena Premium, Unafurgo SL and Berbois.

CONCERT AND DINNER

In addition, there will be a commemorative concert offered by the Musical Union Torre-Pacheco, next Saturday March 10 in the Culture Classroom of the Fundación Caja Mediterráneo, in Calle Mayor, starting at 6:00 p.m.

A fraternal dinner, with awards, in the halls of the Lady of Gold, on March 17, complete the fraternity agenda.

HISTORY

On November 27, 1993, the Coronation of Thorns group of the Cofradia California gave nature card to their children's third to process in the procession of the entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem, accompanying the traditional Burrica through the streets of Cartagena.

In this way they guaranteed the incorporation of children to the passionate courts so that they would become the future of the group and the incarnate brotherhood.
