Cartagena writer Carmen Conde will be the image of this year's campaign for International Women's Day, which is celebrated on March 8.

Under the motto 'She dreamed, do you dare to dream?'

Cartagena is preparing for a month full of activities focused on this day and that vindicate the role of women in society.

The poster of this campaign with the image of Carmen Conde has been made thanks to the collaboration of women from all over the municipality who have given their image to compose a portrait of the poet and teacher of the Generation of 27. Conde is a symbol for all Cartagena women, from the Region and the country, for being the first woman to join the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language and for having always fought for gender equality.

The mayor and head of the Area of ​​Equality of the City of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presented this Friday, February 23;

along with the councilor of the Area of ​​Culture, Education and Youth, David Martinez, the activities scheduled for March 8.

Both have highlighted the efforts of the Consistory to promote sensitization events and education on equality between men and women.

ACTIVITIES

The planned program for the commemoration of this Women's Day will begin on February 21 with the presentation of the book 'I am also a smart girl', and will last until March 15.

The event will take place at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center at 8:00 p.m.

Among the activities of these weeks there will be workshops, talks and exhibitions such as the one hosted by the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT from March 2 to 11, 'Fotógrafas de Cartagena' or 'Mujeres en el objetivo', carried out by the students of the Photography Workshop of the Popular University and who will be in El Luzzy from March 5 to 16.

On Saturday, March 10, the workshop 'Sexuality and loving links' will also be given at the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT.

I Love Me ', aimed at young people between 14 and 18 years old.

It will last approximately two hours and will start at 12:00 hours.

The Isidoriana University Foundation (Calle Aire, 29) will also host this day the workshop 'Portraits of the soul', organized by the Cartagena Clik Photographic Association !.

This activity will have a number of places limited to 15 and registration at clikcartagena.es will be necessary.

The workshop starts at 5:00 pm and will last approximately three hours.

The concert for equality '+ Q Musas' will also be on Saturday March 10 at 9:30 p.m. in the courtyard of the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT and will perform artists such as Vinila Von Bismark, La otra & las locas of the Co or Women Beat Djs.

MARCH 8

Women's Day will begin with a concentration in the Plaza de España 'Connecting with the equality of hearts' at 10:30 am.

From here, a march to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will begin at 11:00 a.m. in support of the World Women Stoppage summoned for 8M.

The Paro will also be followed by both the mayor and the rest of the councilors of the municipal government.

At 12:00 hours, once the march arrives at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, a manifesto will be read in commemoration for the Women's Day.

In the afternoon there will also be a demonstration organized by feminist groups Plataforma Feminista 8 de Marzo, PIM Cartagena and FAE.

The march will leave the Plaza de España in the direction of Plaza del Ayuntamiento at 7:00 p.m. and, once there, a feminist manifesto will be read again.

In support of this day the Palace Hall will be lit from the night of March 7 in lilac.
