The City Council demands that the agreement with Esamur be modified to have more weight in the decision making (24/01/2018)

The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has demanded the representatives of the Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Region (Esamur), with whom she met this morning in a meeting that was also attended by representatives of Hidrogea, the agreement that regulates their relations is modified to have more weight in the decision making on the execution of the works.

According to the current agreement, the City Council had only one member with the right to vote, compared to the two that Esamur had and the two from Hidrogea.

"This representativeness was not significant, so we considered it necessary to change it.

The predisposition of the representatives of Esamur to collaborate has been good, something I thank you for, "said the mayor.

In addition, Castejón has demanded that Esamur urgently and immediately undertake the reform of the Cala Reona emissary.

"It is one of the issues that concerns us most and we can not delay it," he said.

The representatives of the Entity have agreed on the need for these works, so the technicians will work on this project.

Esamur and the City Council have called for future meetings to analyze all the works that must be carried out to improve the treatment network of Cartagena, which requires maintenance and modernization that has not been carried out in recent years.

Cartagena High Speed

In response to the reporters about whether there is a date for Cartagena Alta Velocidad, the mayor has announced that she is going to call the Government delegate of Murcia, Francisco Bernabé, to explain what she has spoken with the central government regarding this matter.

Likewise, he has stated that he sent two requests to be able to hold a meeting with the High Speed Company in which there was a representative of Adif.

The president of Adif, Juan Bravo called last week when the mayor was not at the town hall.

The mayor responded to his call, but could not contact him.

However, the councilor explained that she hopes that this call will be made soon, since it could be to respond to "so longed for a meeting request".

He also recalled that the commitment of the president of the Region of Murcia with Cartagena was to begin the works of the AVE at the beginning of 2018, to which he added that he has no reason to distrust this commitment.

The mayor has indicated that he will check if the works have finally begun and that based on that will take "the measures he deems appropriate."

The councilor stressed that this is a matter of high priority.

"Not only the high speed, we also need to improve our commuter network," he said.

Castejón has stressed that high speed will be a great boost, however, has appealed to continue working to improve what we have and have trains that are accessible to the pockets of all Cartagena.
