The Mayor of Cartagena requires the Government Delegate more effective to fight against citizen insecurity (28/12/2017)

The Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, held on Thursday, December 28, a meeting with the Government Delegate in Murcia, Francisco Bernabé.

in the new office of the Delegate in Cartagena.

The reason for today's meeting has been to review all the issues that affect the municipality of Cartagena where the powers are of the Government of Spain.

In this meeting, Ana Belén Castejón has transferred to the Government Delegate his concern about the lack of personnel to fight against citizen insecurity, especially in towns and neighborhoods.

For this reason, the mayor will continue to ask the government of Spain that more troops are needed and that the lack of them are becoming citizen insecurity.

"It is my obligation as mayor to see the Delegate of the Government the great problem that we have in terms of citizen security in the municipality of Cartagena but especially in our villages."

"The delegate told me that he continues to demand this increase in personnel."

In this sense, Francisco Bernabé has declared that they are going to work with the Civil Guard to see how to improve everything related to the issue of citizen insecurity, always collaborating with the Local Police and the National Police, "we are collaborating to see what can be done to make citizens more calm, "said the Delegate to the media that have asked him about this issue.

Currently the staff of the Civil Guard in the region of Murcia is 2,100 paper, but now there are 1,900 agents who ensure safety in Murcia.

"We hope to receive a new detachment of agents to complete the designated staff in Murcia," said Bernabe.

The meeting also took stock of the investments of the future infrastructures that affect Cartagena.

The possible dates and deadlines of the arrival of the AVE have been reviewed.

"We want to know in what years we are going to move, to be able to tell the citizens in what year we are going to have the Ave to Cartagena," said Castejón.

The Delegate of the Government is fully aware of the need for these infrastructures for the municipality of Cartagena, and the Mayor declared that today he was leaving with the peace of mind that the Delegate knows the municipal reality, because he knows Cartagena very well.

They have also addressed another issue of great importance in the Campo de Cartagena, such as the scarcity of water resources.

"Our farmers need to know a strong response from the Government of Spain.

It is true, and that is not anyone's fault, that we are going through an unprecedented episode of drought, but it is also true that we have to give an answer to the farmers, "said the mayor.

Since farmers need to know what is going to be done, interconnection of basins and know what desalination plants they have.

They have valued other issues that depend on the government of Spain as the European project of EDUSI, the Mediterranean Corridor or the project of the Logistics Activities Zone (ZAL) and have been set up for work meetings where they will be evaluating how they are prospering the actions and demands with respect to the government of Spain.
