Citizens demand the execution of the March 2017 agreement to adapt the Condesa Peralta square for public use (18/12/2017)

- According to Orange spokesman Manuel Padín, "it has been more than a year since the Plenary agreed to give public use to the Plaza Condesa Peralta, and here no one has made a single movement, which again shows the contempt that this local government feels for the agreements that are taken forward with a majority in which they are not included "

- Citizens denounce that the Committee of Plenary Agreements continues without content and inactive since last May 9

Cartagena, Monday, December 18 -.

On the occasion of the information published today by the newspaper La Opinion, which echoes a claim of the citizen platform 'Cartagena Center', the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has announced that he will present a question at the next ordinary plenary. to know why the Government of Cartagena has not yet implemented the motion approved with the votes of the Popular Party, CTSSP-Podemos and Ciudadanos so that the aforementioned plaza has a public use, be enlarged and become a dynamic space of reference for tourists , visitors and neighbors.

The orange training spokesman recalled that his group was positioned against a possible negotiation to swap the municipal plot of 262 square meters with capacity for a local and five homes, in front of the Roman Theater, a private 4,196 meters for equipment public, on Jorge Juan street.

"At the time, we did not understand this movement that was responsible for Infrastructure, José López, because on the one hand the Community was offered 5,000 square meters of municipal land to expand the Conservatory and house there an Integrated Music and Dance Center, and at the same time it was studying to permute this municipal plot next to the Roman Theater, which was to be integrated into the plaza according to the plenary agreement, by a private one in an area where there are already almost 10,000 square meters of municipal property, "the spokesperson recalled. the orange formation.

According to Manuel Padín, "in any case, it has been more than a year since the citizen platform Cartagena Centro asked for it, and almost ten months since the Plenary agreed to give public use to the Plaza Condesa Peralta, and here no one has made a only movement, which again demonstrates the contempt felt by this local government for the agreements that are taken forward with a majority in which they are not included, but they have to understand that they are a government in the minority and that all the plenary agreements are of mandatory compliance ".

"They have let so much time pass that the neighbors are beginning to lose patience," says Manuel Padín.

Agreement Commission without use

The Cs spokesman also regrets that a new meeting of the Commission for the Execution of the Plenary Agreements has not yet been convened, whose last session took place on May 9, "precisely, one of the objectives that we pursued with this commission was to speed up the plenary sessions, so that we did not have the need to have to take to the plenary more questions about the status of execution of an agreement, as we are going to do with the Condesa Peralta square ".

"Besides," Padín explains, "this commission is used to find out if there is a problem to apply the agreement and if there is a space with representation from all the municipal groups to provide solutions." The Government of Cartagena seems to have called that meeting to silence us during some time, but it does not seem that it intends to fill it with content and operability, in another clear contempt for the majority will of the Plenary of Cartagena, "said Padín.
