The X Blood Marathon aims to increase the reserves of 0 negative (14/12/2017)

'No matter how you are, the important thing is that you need', is the slogan under which is going to celebrate, on December 21, the X Cartagena Blood Marathon, an event that each year organized on this date prior to the Christmas, the SER Chain of Cartagena and the City Council, in collaboration with the Regional Blood Donation Center.

On this occasion the goal is clear, in addition to trying to increase the number of donations that over the years are around 300, and attract new donors, we wanted to give a touch of attention to the public in the absence of 0 negative, a blood type that is scarce, but that is the most necessary because it is a universal donor.

This was evident during the presentation Thursday of the solidarity event, by the councilor of the Area of Citizen Participation and Good Government, Juan Pedro Torralba, the director of the SER chain in Cartagena, Antonio Rosas, and the head of Communication of the Regional Center of Hemodonation, Antonia Gómez.

Launched a 'call to all Cartagena, high or low, man or woman, whatever their origin', Juan Pedro Torralba recalled that 'donate is only fifteen minutes of our time', and with it you can save up to three lives .

To do this, the Palace Hall will open its doors throughout the day of Thursday 21, from 9.00 to 14.30 and from 16.30 to 21.30.

The donation area will be installed, as usual, on the ground floor of the building, where the tests will be carried out to determine if blood can be donated or not, and also to become a bone marrow donor.

To those who come, the municipality will give them a gift pot and FC Cartagena will invite them to attend the next meeting they will play at home in mid-January.

To liven up the morning, Radio Cartagena Cadena SER will carry out its Hoy por Hoy program with live interviews from the hall of the Consistorial Palace.

'The requirements to donate blood', Antonia Gomez recalled, 'have not changed: being between 18 and 65 years old, weighing more than 50 kilos and being in good health, and above all, considering that after this specific event, we must continue donating regularly, for this we have a Hemodonation Center in Cartagena, in Rosell, open from Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 14.00 hours, the second Saturday of each month, and from January 1, Wednesday we will close in the morning and open in the afternoon, for those people who work in the morning and can not donate. '

So far this year, donations have fallen by two percent, compared to the previous year, a figure that is not worrisome, with a total of 7,297 of the figure reached in Cartagena.

According to Antonia Gómez, the age range in which less is donated and that we must try to promote is that between 18 and 30 years.
