The FICC closes its 46th edition (04/12/2017)

In the Murcine section, Daniel Bernal's 'Suspense or Surprise' won the Silver Caravel City of Cartagena |

The International Film Festival of Cartagena closed its 46th edition this Saturday in Room A of the El Batel Auditorium, where the awards ceremony of the different sections took place and attended by authorities of local and regional political institutions, among the which included the ediles of the municipal government David Martínez, Francisco Calderón, Isabel García and María José Soler, as well as the counselor Noelia Arroyo.

In it, the actor Carlos Santos received the FICC / GAS NATURAL FENOSA award in recognition of his film and television career.

Santos has become one of the most outstanding interpreters of cinema and television in our country thanks to his talent and versatility.

Outstanding in his prize list are the 2017 Goya Award for Best New Actor and the Best Actor 2017 Secondary Actors Union Award, both for his role as Luis Roldan in "The Man with the Thousand Faces."

Among the more 500 entries received, the jury of this edition decided that the short film winner of the Official Short Film Section will be "Red Light", by filmmaker Toma Waszarow.

The Bulgarian director collected the Carabela de Plata Award 'Ciudad de Cartagena' from the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón.

The Submarine Peral Award for Best Direction went to Álvaro Gago, director of the short film "Matria".

The jury member Alberto Sáez Villarino presented the award to Roi Fernández Carvajal, assistant director of the short film.

Brady Hood and Jessica Jackson received the Submarine Pear Award for Best Screenplay for their work on "Sweet Maddie Stone," a short film directed by Brady Hood.

The Peral Submarine Award for Best Performance was for Nausicaa Bonnín for "La inútil".

Alberto Bermejo, member of the jury, presented the award to the director of the short film, Belén Funes.

The short film «La disco reslandece», by Chema García Ibarra, was awarded the Peral Submarine Prize for Best Photography, by Ion de Sosa.

In the Murcine section, «Suspense or Surprise» was awarded the First Prize 'Carabela de Plata' Ciudad de Cartagena '.

Its director, the Cartagena Daniel Bernal Hernández, returned to his hometown to pick up the prize from Ángel Cruz, coordinator of the Regional Film Archive 'Francisco Rabal'.

The Second Prize Murcine 'Submarino Peral' was for «The Last Dance», directed by Manuel García de Otazo.

Laura Peñafiel, director of the festival, gave the award to the short filmmaker.

The prize of the Young Jury, made up of students from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the University of Murcia, the UNED center in Cartagena and the ISEN University Center, was for the film "Thelma", by director Joachim Trier.

In addition, during the closing ceremony, the prize was awarded to the short film winner at the Young Appreciated Competition, which aims to promote audiovisual literacy and recognize creative talent among the youngest members of the municipality.

Professor Salvador García Espinosa and student Pablo Belchí Martínez, from the El Bohío institute, received the award for the short film "Horas muertas".

After the awards ceremony, the festival's president, Nacho Ros, thanked the sponsors and institutions for their collaboration and highlighted the work of the festival team.

He affirmed that "maybe it is not the most important in Spain, nor the best, nor the greatest, but it is the one that is made with greater affection and with greater enthusiasm."

Then, the Cartagena group Nunatak interpreted live «I am wind, I am fire», the song that has put the soundtrack to the 46th edition of the International Film Festival of Cartagena.

Finally, viewers enjoyed the screening of the second part of the film "Project Time", directed by Isabel Coixet for the Cinergía project, followed by the feature film "C'est la vie!", A French comedy by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano

The jury of the Official Short Films Section and the MURcine section was composed by Ángel Cruz, coordinator of the Regional Film Archive 'Francisco Rabal', Rocío Abellán, artist and researcher, Alberto Bermejo, editor of the Cinema Days program, Alberto Sáez Villarino , film critic, and Lucía Tello Díaz, writer and teacher.

The jury of Young Aficionados Short has been formed by Mariu Cánovas, Fernando Muñoz and Sergio Urán.
