The European Center for Business and Innovation of Cartagena (Ceeic) will host from next week until March next year a free training course in design of industrial pipes for young people between 16 and 29 who are not studying or working, and that are enrolled in Youth Guarantee.
This training activity, which still has places available, is organized by the School of Industrial Organization and co-financed by the SEF and the European Social Fund.
The course responds to the strength of this sector in the Campo de Cartagena region, with a progressive increase in the demand for workers by companies that have industrial complexes in the area, such as Repsol.
In fact, in the spring of this same year the School of Industrial Organization already held a similar course in the town of Puertollano (Ciudad Real), where Repsol has similar facilities.
It is an activity with a high labor insertion for qualified professionals.
In fact, 50 percent of participants in the course of Puertollano have been hired later by companies in the sector, most of them as pipeline draughtsmen.
Although this introductory course includes theoretical classes, the practical part predominates, with contents that address, for example, flow diagrams, an environmental awareness, information on rules and isometric documentation, as well as notions about safety valves and rupture discs, between other specific knowledge.
The main objective is that students are able to apply the techniques learned effectively in the business field, but there is also a specific module of the course that focuses on enhancing the student's resources for employment.
These resources are, for example, the preparation of job interviews, the improvement of the curriculum, teamwork techniques, negotiation techniques, self-knowledge and the development of personal branding.
Specialized contents
The general director of the SEF, Alejandro Zamora, stressed that "this course offers very specialized, very specific contents, and with teachers who have a lot of experience in this sector." It should not be forgotten that, in the current labor market, this specialization significantly increases the options of getting a job later ".
