Heritage installs explanatory posters to publicize the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Mayor (01/12/2017)

The City of Cartagena, through the Area of ​​Culture and Heritage, has today installed a series of explanatory signs in the vicinity of the Cathedral of Santa María la Mayor, to raise awareness among citizens and people visiting the city, aspects of the history and the surroundings of this construction.

A sign has been placed next to the exit of the Roman Theater Museum, in which the name of the cathedral is indicated;

another on Calle Osario, which runs from Cuesta de la Baronesa Street to the main entrance of the cathedral;

and a lectern with an explanatory sign of the Cathedral in the same main door.

The Osario street poster explains the surroundings of the Cathedral, which was located in the neighborhood of Pescadores or La Gomera, full of irregular streets, and the history of the name of that street where there was a deposit of human remains.

The information is written in Spanish and English.

The poster includes a photograph of this enclave from the year 1900.

On the other hand, the sign next to the door of the cathedral details aspects of the history and architecture of the cathedral of Spain, according to tradition.

The councilor of the area of ​​Heritage, Ricardo Segado, has indicated after a visit at the time of the installation of the posters, that this action is part of a plan of visibility of heritage that has been made in Torreciega, in the Wall of Felipe V and in some other sites.

"This is nothing other than the municipal interest of the City Council to continue spreading and promoting our Cathedral of Cartagena" has highlighted.
