The student of the UPCT world champion sub-21 pool competes in Egypt in the absolute tournament (01/12/2017)

Carlos Anguita and Juan David Zapata, also an ADE student at the Polytechnic, are part of the Spanish team and the Cartagena club, with which they achieved the national runner-up last season

On a roll.

This is how he arrives at the international triple pool championship that is celebrated from this Sunday in Egypt by the student of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Carlos Anguita Díaz, who this year has won the U21 championships in Spain and Europe and sub22 of the world .

And he is not the only student of the degree in Business Administration and Management (ADE) of the Faculty of Business Sciences that is part of the eight Spanish representatives in the world tournament that takes place from Sunday in Egypt.

He will also attend his classmate Juan David Zapata, former European champion in lower categories, with whom he also shares permanent concentration in the High Performance Center (CAR) of Los Narejos.

Both play in the billiard club of Cartagena, with which they achieved the second place in Spain last season and the qualification for the European team tournament.

Another one of the billiards players of the CAR also studies in the UPCT.

Without pressure in the world trophy in which you can measure yourself with the best of the planet, Carlos Anguita does mark himself as the goal for the season "to revalidate some of the titles" that he has achieved at a national, European and global level.

The world championship was held in September in Los Alcázares and the student of the Polytechnic was on the verge of not showing up.

"In the summer I injured my elbow and I had to rest for two weeks with precisely the left arm with which I hit.

From thinking about not playing I became the world champion, a small difference, "he jokes.

"Nothing changes for me," he says of his reign as U21 world champion.

As in Spain hardly anyone lives professionally billiards, their goal is "to find a stable job that allows me to combine the sport and keep competing.

I can not conceive life without billiards. "

For this, "he was clear that he wanted to study ADE" and decided on the UPCT as soon as he visited.

Class in the morning and three hours or more of afternoon training in your daily routine.

"It requires being disciplined, not playing for playing."

Discipline does not imply boredom.

"The billiard hooks," he says.

In world tournaments, the top favorites are always the Koreans.

"Only in Seoul there are 10,000 clubs.

It's impressive, "he describes.

"In Spain it is difficult to find billiards for this modality, what abounds most is the American".

Billiard player from the age of 13, "when I went with my father to the recreational facilities of my town, Moncada", the Valencian student has lived for six years in the CAR of Los Narejos and is in the penultimate course of his undergraduate studies the UPCT.
