The City Council will collaborate with the guardians for the adoption of dogs and cats (24/11/2017)

The Local Government Board met this morning under the presidency of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, this morning has approved the proposal of the councilor of the area of Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, for the signing of a collaboration agreement between the City Council of Cartagena and the animal protection associations registered in the Municipal Register of Associations, in order to subsidize the adoption of dogs and cats.

The adoption of these abandoned animals by responsible owners is a priority from the municipal level, complementing this agreement with other actions such as campaigns for responsible animal ownership, non-abandonment or the next Christmas related to the promotion of responsible adoption.

The beneficiaries of these agreements are those animal protection associations, registered as of October 31, 2017, in the municipal register of associations.

This collaboration will aim to adopt abandoned animals, of the canine and feline species, which are identified with microchip and registered in the Municipal Register of pets.

There are two lines of collaboration: the bonus to the entities in the adoption of abandoned animals from the Municipal Center for the Welcoming and Treatment of Pets (CATAD), as well as in the adoption of abandoned animals managed by the protector herself.

The total amount allocated to the agreements amounts to 20,000 euros, the object of the agreement being the adoptions made between January 1, 2017 and November 30 of this year.
