The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has assured this Tuesday that "Cartagena has been up to the task" of what is required in a "historical situation" like the humanitarian crisis that the city's coast has experienced in recent days.

Castejón has transferred the "sincere thanks of the entire municipal government to all those who have been involved", especially the social entities, "who have done a magnificent job in this device".

Proof of this has been the fact that the Minister of the Interior, Juan Ignacio Zoido, phoned the first mayor to congratulate the City of Cartagena, on behalf of the Government of Spain, for the way in which it has managed "this humanitarian crisis unprecedented "in the city and in the area, according to Castejón.

The councilor has indicated that through the reaction to this eventuality it has been possible to demonstrate to the world "that Cartagena is a welcoming and supportive city" and a municipality "that has the sufficient level, and enough, to put the great number of personnel of the City Council that has been at the disposal of this municipal device where all services have intervened, led by the Department of Social Services.

Ana Belén Castejón has also confirmed that the Government delegate remains in permanent contact with the Mayor's Office of Cartagena.
