The mayor welcomes the children to hold a children's meeting in the Palace Hall (13/11/2017)

The 27 students of the sixth grade of the San Isidoro and Santa Florentina schools that will participate in a children's plenary session on Friday, November 17, visited the plenary hall of the Consistorial Palace of Cartagena this morning.

The visit was a first contact for the students, who were received by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the delegate councilor for Education, David Martínez.

The students of this school have been preparing a didactic unit on the functioning of public institutions, and in particular of local institutions.

Among the activities carried out, four "political parties" have been formed, each with the name of a right: "To an education that fosters friendship, equality and justice", "Equality, religious tolerance and against abuses", " Food, housing and health protection "and" Attention to disability ".

Each of the groups has campaigned for their candidacy among their peers with slogans such as "A right is not a game" or "Culture of peace and equality".

A vote was held and the 27 councilors who represent each right in the group have left, the same number as councilors has the full City of Cartagena.

The mayor, of the "Right to an education ...", is Lola Carrión, will be in charge of presiding over plenary next Friday.

Castejón has taught the plenary hall, and wanted to see first-hand the work of students in class through some questions, which students have answered in unison.

Finally he has answered some of the doubts of the children councilmen, before his speech next Friday.

To finish they have all taken their place, the councilors in the lateral seats, and the mayor, the vice-mayor, the secretary and the auditor in the front table.

The Councilor for Education has stayed with them and has explained to them the functioning of the Plenary and the speaking turns so that everything is ready by the end of this week.

The children's plenary session will be held on Friday at 11:00 am with the presence of all 6th grade students of the CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina and will be broadcast live on the internet through the Youtube channel of the City Council.
