Opera 2001 staged The Barber of Seville in El Batel (13/11/2017)

The Barber of Seville, by Rossini, is considered one of the great masterpieces of comedy within the lyrical field.

The piece can be seen on Tuesday, November 14, at 9:00 p.m., at the Auditorium El Batel with the setting of Opera 2001. Tickets cost between 35 and 20 euros.

Opera buffa in two acts with music by Gioachino Rossini and libretto by Cesare Sterbini, based on the comedy of the same name by Beaumarchais, 'The Barber of Seville' premiered in February 1816 in Rome.

The piece has proved to be one of the great masterpieces of comedy within music and has been described as "the opera buffa of all the buffa operas".

Even after two hundred years, his popularity in the modern opera scene testifies to his greatness.

The plot recounts the adventures of a couple of lovers composed of the Count of Almaviva and the young orphan Rosina.

Bartolo, preceptor of the girl, also tries despite the age difference.

To avoid it, the couple uses the help of the barber Figaro, who by means of entanglements deceives Bartolo and manages to unite the lovers in marriage.

The aria of Figaro is, surely, one of the most popular lyrical moments in history.

With soloists, orchestra and choirs of opera company Opera 2001, the piece is presented in Spanish, with musical direction by Martin Mázik and Constantin Rouits, stage direction by Roberta Mattelli and Matteo Peirone and artistic direction by Luis Miguel Lainz.
