The Mobility Board collects social support for the use of free public transport during the holidays (10/11/2017)

La Mesa de la Movilidad 'M17', a work forum created by the Department of Sustainable Development directed by María José Soler, and which symbolizes the will of this management area to design a municipality that is more friendly, accessible and respectful of the Environment, met yesterday Thursday in a session that counted with the participation of representatives of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and District (FACVAC);

of the Port Authority;

from the Polytechnic University (UPCT);

of the Trade Federation, and the MoviliCT and Vía Libre collectives.

On the part of the City Council of Cartagena, the general coordinator of Sustainable Development, Jesús Giménez;

the head of Infrastructures, Matías Yepes;

the coordinator of sports activities, Eduardo Armada, and the deputy chief inspector of the Local Police, Eusebio Serna.

During the meeting the conclusions gathered during the Month of Mobility were presented, being "satisfactory", as Jesus Giménez has stated.

Thus, it was recalled that almost 40,000 Cartagena chose the use of urban transport on September 21 and 22, coinciding with the festival of Carthaginians and Romans, thanks to the means implemented from the area of Sustainable Development (free bus lines ).

In this sense, it was determined that it was key to increase the dissemination and dissemination to the youngest, reach the schools, work that will also involve the Department of Sports.

Measures to be developed, 'Zones 20 and 30'

In the same way, Sustainable Development and Local Police decided to set up a Commission and make a specific meeting in which "Zones 20 and 30 and superblocks are presented where to introduce the 'soft' measures of mobility".

Another questions

Other issues were addressed outside the agenda, such as the possible semi-pedestrianization of Canales street and La Palma street, a proposal that has local receptivity and a favorable vote from the Trade Federation.

It would be a solution similar to that carried out on roads such as Campos and Jara;

maintain traffic while allowing greater accessibility by extending sidewalks or even eliminating them.

Municipal technicians will work in this direction.

Finally, progress was made in the starting points for the collection of bicycles for the loan service, in whose specifications work is being done at this time.

It should be noted that yesterday an agreement was reached on the best location for these points.
