Cartagena for the Charity appoints the Minister of Family honorary president of the association (07/11/2017)

The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, met today with the president of the Cartagena for Charity Association, Matías Barco, who informed him of the charity dinner for people in need that will be held next Saturday in Cartagena.

The counselor has called for citizens to participate with their donations in this gala, whose funds will be used to support the association 'The Dream of Vicky' in their actions to treat childhood cancer.

In the course of it, Violante Tomás will be named honorary president of Cartagena de la Caridad.

In this charity dinner the awards will be given to the Charity 2017, which have been awarded to volunteers with people with cancer and their families in the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), volunteering of the Hope Group of the International Association of Charity San Vicente of Paúl and the marriage formed by Gabriel Fernández Ruiz and Paqui Subiela Madrid.

After the meeting with Matías Barco, Violante Tomás explained that the Community finances 2,191,000 euros for people at risk of exclusion in the city.

Among the associations with which he collaborates is the collective La Huertecica, the San Pedro Asilo Store, the Rascasa Key Program, the Abandoned Jesus Shelter, the Caritas social center, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul , the Casa Cuna and the Food Bank of Cartagena.

It also cares for immigrants from Accem, the Good Samaritan, the Hospitality of Santa Teresa and the Abraham Project.

"Cartagena por la Caridad is a meeting point to face all those social organizations that are working to serve others and which we will continue to support," said the counselor.

In addition to the subsidies to associations and NGOs, Violante Tomás recalled that the Community finances with more than 1.3 million euros the municipal Social Services of Cartagena.

This allocation has increased by 5.8 percent compared to last year in order to serve the 216,300 citizens of this municipality.

The Community has recently granted a nominative grant for a total amount of 1,337,575 euros to finance the Social Services of Primary Social Care of the City of Cartagena.
