The Old Town of Cartagena will be closed to traffic during this weekend due to the presence of the Baroque Market in the streets of the historic center, whose inauguration by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, will be held this Friday, November 3 at 12:30 hours, and the arrival of about 5,500 cruise passengers between Saturday and Sunday.
These cuts will occur from this Thursday at 3:00 pm until Sunday.
The Local Police of Cartagena discourages the use of the vehicle to access the downtown area since these restrictions will affect mobility in the area and will make it impossible.
From the municipal body warn that the cuts will not only occur with the aim of achieving greater comfort for users but also for security reasons, in order to ensure the protection of both cruise passengers and visitors and neighbors.
It should be noted, in this aspect, that in addition to the influx of public expected in the Baroque Market, to this will be added the landing of about 3,000 cruise passengers on Saturday and another 2,500 approximately on Sunday.
The owners of garages in the streets of Aire, Jara and Principe de Vergara can enter them through Villamartín street, but they must at a reduced speed and always prioritizing the pedestrian.
Also, those who have their garage on Gisbert Street can access through Angel Street, and the owners of garages on Calle Caballero and San Antonio el Pobre will enter and exit through Calle Caballero.
Vehicles that will carry out loading and unloading tasks may do so by parking on Calle del Aire until 11:00 am and accessing Calle Villamartín with the necessary precautions, with a reduced speed and always prioritizing the pedestrian.
