The mayor indicates the descent of the water and the improvement of the cleaning and transportation as the next actions of the Government (02/11/2017)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, explained today that, among the priorities of the government team for the coming months, is the lowering of water, the improvement of cleanliness and the implementation of a technical office to develop the Smart City programs within the Smart Cities Network.

Castejón has made these statements during the work meeting he has held with the media this morning, after the recent incorporation of his low material.

The mayor plans to hold meetings next week with the heads of Alsa, Hidrogea and FFC-Licharsa, which are the concessionaires of public transport, water management and cleaning service.

With respect to FCC-Licharsa, the concessionary cleaning company in the city, the Government team is aware that the service is not adapted to the needs of the city, its neighborhoods and county councils.

"The contract is obsolete and does not conform to current demands," said the mayor.

Castejón will negotiate with the company, and does not rule out extending or modifying the contract if necessary.

Hidrogea will be another of the companies with which the mayor will meet.

The technicians of the consistory Cartagena have prepared a study of costs in the service that contemplates that a reduction of the water tariff much higher than the 6.6 percent raised by the concessionaire.

The mayor has said "that the offer of the company will not be accepted.

Lower the price of water is a commitment made with Cartagena and Citizens and we will comply, but always with the best conditions for our municipality.

With Alsa, the company that manages urban buses, the main issue to be addressed will be the improvement of the line that joins the western zone and the line that connects Cartagena with the Santa Ana Industrial Park. The buses of this last line are used by 100,000 travelers a month with a frequency of 15 minutes, working days, but the service is better intended.

The mayor will also renegotiate the contract with the concessionaire of the Batel Auditorium and Conference Center, (Gestípolis and Sonora) so that the conditions for the Consistory are "much more advantageous".

"We will renegotiate with a lot of dialogue but with a lot of demand."

Castejón has also expressed its commitment to develop the necessary programs for Smart City, since Cartagena is part of the Smart Cities Network, something that the city council considers very positive for the city, and that "it will suppose the control of small services to through the new technologies. "

The mayor explained it with examples: "You can know if a traffic light is broken, or know if a garden has not been watered, which will give quality and immediacy to the services provided to citizens.

The project called, 'Smart Cartagena' will have a specific allocation in the budgets of the next legislature, which will be complemented with European funds.

The mayor hopes to provide the project with between 500,000 and 600,000 euros per year.

On the other hand, the mayor has also explained what will be the priorities in the preparation of the Municipal Budgets for 2018, which will prioritize social policy, as well as the commitment to neighborhoods and councils.

On the other hand, the mayor sees necessary, for a better service, in the contracts of minor works, which are shuffled from 6,000 euros plus VAT, current, to 12,000 euros.
