- The center director and AMPA representatives deny that a full-time Special Education teacher has been incorporated and that periodic inspections are being conducted to ensure the safety of schoolchildren in the face of the enormous asbestos surface on the roof of the school.

The regional deputy of Citizens, Juan Jose Molina, the spokesman of the Municipal Group in Cartagena, Manuel Padín and the member of the orange formation in the Neighborhood Council, Ángel Sánchez today visited the San Isidoro School in El Algar, where they have held a meeting with the director of the center, and with representatives of AMPA, who have transferred the deficiencies and needs of this school.

The main problem for the AMPA is the saturation of the classrooms, and the lack of space;

consider it urgent to expand the center in at least two classrooms for next year.

They denounce that for some years they can not satisfy the demand for places in the school.

Another problem has to do with the large area of asbestos with which the roof of the center is built and despite the fact that the Ministry of Education said a few days ago that there is no risk and that regular inspections are carried out, of the College, Olga Catasús, as the president of the AMPA, Sofía Martínez, said they did not know that these inspections were carried out.

The director of the center has also denied the information published in some media, according to which would have endowed the center with a teacher of Special Education full time,

the newly incorporated teacher would be working only 14 hours a week.

On the other hand, the school, which is close to 50 years of existence, suffers from problems in the pipe network, and many parents have complained about the bad smell.

The bad conditions of the toilets, the humidity in floors and walls of part of the classrooms, the absence of adequate spaces for the storage, or the breaking of the cane in the children's play area are other deficiencies that require an evaluation and a as soon as possible.

Another of the needs they have is the installation of a covered sports track, as it corresponds to them, remember from the AMPA.

The deputy of Cs in the Regional Assembly, Juan Molina, pointed out that "the problems that this school has are on the one hand infrastructure, there is a track that is uncovered, that with the weather conditions that this region has is something that does not you can afford it, some dressing rooms that are in very poor condition, and also have a saturation problem, have more children than you can bear. "

Regarding the saturation of the center, Molina stressed that "we have to study how we do it, because there are two very close schools, one with lots of land and, as we have been told, with some empty classes, while the San Isidoro does not have the ground to continue growing and also it lacks classes ".

For the deputy of the orange formation it is necessary to "rationalize the use of educational infrastructures, we are going to work in this direction to improve the quality of education, in this and in all schools in the Region."

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that he was concerned about the enormous surface of asbestos on the roof of the school, "especially when the director tells us that it is not true that periodic inspections have been carried out. security, our Parliamentary Group has asked again and again the map of priorities for the progressive withdrawal of asbestos in schools but the Community does not respond.

Manuel Padin has also listed some of the actions to be taken in the center and that are the responsibility of the City Council, "I have committed to the AMPA to transfer to Councilor Education, David Martinez, all incidents that have to do with maintenance, and that is therefore municipal competition, such as the problem with the pipeline network, some damp, and even the arrangement of a recently torn cane in the playground.

"We know that the Parliamentary Group of the PSOE has registered a motion in the Assembly with many of these incidents, and we will be very keen to incorporate, if necessary, the shortcomings that we have detected, and we are going to propose to our deputies the convenience to endow these actions economically in the next regional budgets, "said the spokesman of Cs Cartagena.
