An initiative of MC encourages the City Council to claim the inclusion of Cartagena in the Mediterranean Corridor and the construction of the Beniel Bay (19/10/2017)

The Plenary of the Municipal Corporation approved this morning an initiative of MC, presented by its spokesman, Jose López, for the City of Cartagena to claim the inclusion of the municipality in the Mediterranean Corridor, as well as the construction of the Beniel baipas to facilitate the arrival of the AVE.

In this line, the Plenary will urge the Government of Spain to advance firmly and seriously in the Beniel Bay, drawing up the projects and evacuating the necessary procedures, as well as including sufficient budgetary allocation for them and the work to be carried out, and to act in the same way as for the electrification of the Chinchilla-Cartagena route and to Albacete to ensure at all times the rail service to the Region of Cartagena, ending the isolation that this month has occurred.

López recalled that "during the first week of this month, the train station in Cartagena has not had rail traffic, presenting a ghostly state seasoned with that self-effacement of those who expect it to fall apart by not investing in it or a only euro, "lamenting also that" we have found these past days with empty announcements and content staging about the positioning of Cartagena within the layout of the Mediterranean Corridor, which seemed rather a joke in bad taste coinciding with the tangible reality that there were no trains in our station. "

"We have all had the opportunity to see the map showing the layout of the Mediterranean Corridor, reserving a 'blue toothpick' for Cartagena, once left the coastal route to go fifty kilometers inland. To put paint sticks, you could paint one that it will arrive directly at the port of Cartagena giving meaning to this corridor in the southeast of Spain, since the triangulation of the port of Alicante with that of Cartagena is the one that should be put in place so that the corridor is really Mediterranean, "he explained.

In this context, the MC proposal, in its line of claiming the necessary infrastructures for the Region of Cartagena and in order that the future of this one no longer be stuck, reads that, in addition to the Mediterranean Corridor, urgently to all the administrations that are competent in the matter, the construction of Beniel baipas to end the isolation to which Cartagena is subjected, noting José López that "the presentation and processing of the Beniel baipas project for the arrival of the AVE is the one that would convince to us of the existence of the political will to put an end to the problem ".

"Let's hope the minister's stick does not prick the grapes of Barnabas," he added.

The Carthaginian spokesman has invited the other municipal groups to "say enough of the constant deception of the Carthaginians," stating that "MC is not willing to continue to deceive the Carthaginians, allocating the wealth generated in their port, and whose risk we support the inhabitants of the Comarca to make the Camarillas variant on which the enigma has not been solved if it will host hybrid trains or will simply be used to spend money and be able to sell public works in another exercise of political propaganda and window dressing " .

José López has shown that "with the railroad connection of passengers and goods we are playing a lot, we are playing the future of our children, to whom we should bequeath a better future where there are hopes of finding employment, as well as the future of the entrepreneurs of the Region of Cartagena, who can not undertake because there is no economic activity. And because we have no hybrid trains, because the electrification of the line to Albacete is not undertaken, which would save costs to all and would allow rapid traffic with Madrid. "

Therefore, he concluded by stating that "we should encourage all Cartagena to go out into the street until the works begin, so that we can talk about realities and not just toasts in the sun."
