Encarna Jover wins the historic cruise of the drawing of Carthaginians and Romans of Ecovidrio (13/10/2017)

Ecovidrio and the City Council of Cartagena have delivered this morning the prize of a historic cruise for two people for the Mediterranean on the occasion of the novel action of 'Street Marketing' set during the festivities of Carthaginians and Romans.

The winners, Encarna Jover and Gerardo Cárceles, have been fortunate to win this prize as a result of the 'Empire of the Glass: Recycle and Win' campaign.

The Ecovidrio area manager, Roberto Fuentes, and the Councilor for Sustainable Development of the City of Cartagena, María José Soler, have delivered the check and a mini-igloo of recycling commemorative of this 28th edition of the declared holidays of Tourist Interest International.

Soler has assessed that the City Council considered this initiative as "very interesting" as a way to make the glass container "friendly, and create a fun environment."

"If we managed to make it fun for kids to recycle, we would not have to do all the awareness campaigns that are being done," he said, noting also the importance of these campaigns, not only on the environmental side, but also on the economic side. a way of saving and giving value to an item that goes to waste.

The Glass Empire has managed to collect 12 tonnes of glass (6.5T Carthagineses-5.5T Romans) during the 10-day campaign in the different locations of the festive tour such as the Port of Cartagena, the Town Hall Square, Alameda San Antón and El Camp Festero.

The igloos of Ecovidrio have been integrated in the ambiance of the city and have been part of this historical edition.

In addition, a campaign for the collection of glass was also carried out directly in the hotel establishments of the municipality "which favored an increase in the collection and recycling of the campaign", which meant a collection of four tons more, recalled the councilor.

For its part, the manager of ecovidrio has emphasized the importance of the reuse of the glass that can be considered "a resource more than a residue. Each ton of glass supposes around 3,000 containers reused.

Also 18 mini-iglús of Carthaginians and Romans have been drawn among the participants who have voted for their favorite side through the digital platform of Ecovidrio www.superrecicladores.com

Ecovidrio and the City Council of Cartagena thank neighbors and visitors for their participation in this initiative, since the simple gesture of recycling glass containers not only translates into environmental benefits for the municipality, but supposes a support for the festivals of Carthaginians and Romans continue to act as a tourist attraction, through which attendees can go back to the historical origin of the city, as well as making this a more sustainable event.

GLASS RECYCLING DATA IN CARTAGENA

This campaign will continue to raise the kilograms of glass packaging waste deposited in Cartagena containers.

The collection of glass of this campaign will be added to the balance of the latest collection data of the locality that indicate that a total of 2,796,540 kilograms of glass containers have been recycled in 2016, which means that each neighbor recycled an average of 13 kilograms of this material.

With regard to the containerization rate, Cartagena has an average of 215 inhabitants per container, with a total of 998 iglús for the waste glass containers installed in the town.
