Mowed (MC) asks CARM to publish the BIC start-up for the Casa del Niño and to invest at least part of the 300,000 euros committed (13/10/2017)

On December 30, 2016, the municipal assembly approved a motion, at the initiative of MC, urging the declaration of Cultural Interest (BIC) with monument category for the House of the Child, being properly processed and communicated to the General Directorate of Cultural Property of the CARM by the councilman of the area of Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado (MC).

However, after six months without receiving any response, in July of this year, the file was opened due to administrative silence of said body.

Nevertheless, article 13.2 of Law 4/2007, dated March 16, on Cultural Heritage of CARM states that "in the event that it has been promoted at the request of a party, the agreement of initiation must be notified to the applicants within a maximum period of six months from the request for initiation of the declaration procedure, after which, without having been adopted and notified, the initiation shall be deemed to have been agreed upon.

According to the mayor Ricardo Segado, "in the middle of October we see how CARM has not yet published the opening, so we ask you to publish it, as well as we urge the Autonomous Community to allocate some amount for the recovery of this property, of the 300,000 euros committed to it. "

For Segado, this is a "deserved initiation, and also pays homage to Félix Martí Alpera, who promoted its construction for school purposes, but also to protect abandoned and partially neglected children."

He adds that "the opening will bring good news for this old building located in the center of Cartagena, such as suppress the prefabricated barracks or end the neglect of abandoning its main façade.

The City meets

On the other hand, the councilor of the area of Culture and Heritage has been satisfied with the pace of the works being undertaken in the surroundings of the building, at the request of the area of Sustainable Development, led by MC Councilor Maria Jose Soler , which consists of widening the access road to the school, the renovation of the pavement and the replacement of the luminaire by LED lighting, in addition to installing new banks, thus enabling a new public space.

"The City Council is fulfilling its part, conditioning the environment of the House of the Child and undertaking works of improvement. Now it is only necessary that CARM do its work and invest in this emblematic building that we want to recover for all Cartagena," ends Mow .
