The Food Bank of the Region, based in Cartagena, awarded the Major Awards (09/10/2017)

The Food Bank of the Region (BARM), whose headquarters are in Cartagena, has been distinguished in the '2017 Mayor Awards'.

The gala has been held in the Auditorium Víctor Villegas de Murcia and has been attended by BARM President Enrique García, who has been accompanied by Councilor for Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, representing the City of Cartagena.

The jury of the Awards of the Major has pondered the work of the Food Bank, recognizing with the award to the regional entity.

Calderón has supported those responsible for the BARM, reaffirming the municipal intention, in a concrete way, to strengthen the close relationship between entities, materialized, among other initiatives, with a grant granted by the Consistory.

It is not the only way of collaboration, and is that, in addition to other issues, the City Council contributes to the realization of the diagnosis that determines, by virtue of the personal circumstances of each one, which user should be beneficiaries of the Food Bank.

At the time, the mayor took advantage of the event to congratulate those responsible for the Food Bank for the extraordinary function developed to benefit the most disadvantaged groups

The Food Bank of the Region, based in the city of Cartagena, currently works in a coordinated way with almost ninety charities of the eight municipalities that make up the region of Cartagena.

To this significant number must be added other associations of municipalities such as Aguilas, Lorca or Totana.

According to data collected in 2016, it served more than 22,000 users, in addition to another 1,200 children under two years.

He distributed more than 25,000 kilos of food, from the FEGA Plan (European funds).

Also coming from donations received from companies and individuals.

MAJOR PRIZES

They are intended to publicly recognize and distinguish the work of individuals, institutions, social entities and other legal persons who have distinguished themselves by their work in favor of the integration of the elderly.

The winners were announced through a resolution of the Managing Director of IMAS, under the motivated proposal made by the jury
