Almost 50 cultural activities make up the program of the quarter of Read, think, imagine (02/10/2017)

Almost thirty cultural proposals, 11 workshops and nine storytellers for all interests and for all ages are included in the programming of the cycle 'Read, think, imagine' of the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.

This was announced Monday, October 2, the mayor of Culture, David Martinez, in a press conference in which he was accompanied by the director of the International Film Festival of Cartagena (FICC), Esther Baeza, and the person responsible of the municipal libraries, Mª Carmen Rodal.

Thus, 'Reading, thinking and imagining brings a total of 48 activities' ranging from cinema to philosophy, from theater to zarzuela, through the presentation of novels, story books, essays, poetry, comics, ecology and puppets ", As highlighted by the Councilor for Culture.

Outside there are other activities that will also be done in Luzzy, like the FICC projections that are made in November or other festivals.

Martínez has highlighted the new programming of the Library of Luzzy;

the three conferences of the cycle 'Eco-social transition or collapse' of the Cartagena program Think with thinkers and researchers like Jorge Riechmann, Yayo Herrero or Antonio Turiel;

the theater play 'The dream of reason' of the company Ferroviaria;

the zarzuela 'The other duet of the African', of the company Antaviana;

or the spectacle of the festival Titeremurcia, 'The sparrow and the poet' of the company La Carreta, about the poet Miguel Hernandez in the year of the 75th anniversary of his death.

There are also 14 books of all genres, including some children, as Martínez has emphasized.

Thus, authors like the narrator Marina Mayoral, the poet Katy Parra, the essayist Victor Mora or the novelist Miguel Sánchez Robles, among others, will be in Cartagena during this quarter presenting their works.

All acts of the program are free.

The mayor of Culture has emphasized that the program, once again, "respects the principle of gender equality," so that "no gender is represented above 60% or below 40%."

Finally, Martinez has encouraged the Cartagena "to participate and enjoy this program in which they are sure to find acts of interest, as evidenced by the fact that more and more more participants in this program."

NEW PROGRAMMING OF THE FICCMOTECA

For her part, Esther Baeza has highlighted the good functioning of the Library in its first programming, held a few months ago.

"We are delighted," he acknowledged, because "indeed, all those who thought it necessary to bring back the spirit of an independent cinema and author, we were right."

Following the line of the first program, this second call arrives at the Assembly Hall of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center with four screenings beginning on Friday, October 13 with 'Pieles' (2017), the first opera by Eduardo Casanova.

"It's a very transgressive film," said the director of the FICC.

In addition, in collaboration with the Festival Poético Deslinde 2017, on Friday 27 October will arrive 'The Dark Side of the Heart', a film by Eliseo Subiela of the year 1992 that will be projected in a new copy restored, remastered and digitalized in 4K by the Association argentina 'Recover'.

On the other hand, and coinciding with the XXXVII International Jazz Festival of Cartagena, on Friday, November 17 will be 'Born to be blue', a Canadian film of 2015 that tells the story of legendary jazz trumpeter Chet Baker in the years 60. The last screening of this edition of the Library will take place on Friday the 24th with 'The Other Side of Hope', a Finnish creation of director Aki Kaurismäki.

This event will kick off the new edition of the FICC.

All the films, Baeza recalled, will be screened in the original version, with Spanish subtitles for the last three.

WORKSHOPS WITH UPCT AND MUNICIPAL LIBRARIES

The municipal libraries will continue during this quarter promoting not only reading, oral narration and literature, but will also continue to bet on science and technology in a totally playful way, so that "girls learn by playing and our libraries are centers of fun and learning ".

With the collaboration of the Polytechnic of Cartagena (UPCT), a series of workshops has been prepared for children and young people from 6 to 16 years of age at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center about astronomical and technological dissemination, about the meaning of colors and augmented reality in marketing, and on the mystery of holograms.

In addition, the workshops 'Enjoy the science' will return to the hand of the professor in Physics and Chemistry Cayetano Gutierrez.

There will also be a cycle of philosophy workshops for adults taught by the doctor in Philosophy by the University of Murcia Alejandro Moreno;

a drawing and philosophy workshop for children on geometers, for children from 7 to 10 years;

the new workshop 'Hayat's chocolate factory' which will stimulate stimulation through music for babies and children, for babies from 0 to 18 months,

the workshop of rhythm and musicality for children, aimed at children from 5 to 10 years;

and the celebration of the Day of the Libraries, next 24 of October, with Sphere Theater and its homage to Gloria Fuertes.

As for the Countdown cycle, it will include a total of nine performances that will take place at the Cultural Center Ramón Alonso Luzzy, and begin this Friday, October 6, with the tribute to Miguel Hernandez 'The tales of foals for Manolillo'.

All will take place at 18:30.
