This was announced today by the acting mayor of the port city, Juan Pedro Torralba, along with the Minister of Sports of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Adela Martínez-Cachá, and the president of FC Cartagena, Francisco Belmonte, in a press conference that was attended by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón - currently down for her recent maternity -, Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, the delegate councilor for Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martín del Amor, the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, the general director of sports, Alonso Gómez, and representatives of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia.

The work of replacing the turf will begin next Monday and are scheduled to end in 12 days, October 14, and will be run by the company Novogreen, which has been in charge of renewing the green of fields such as the Santiago Bernabéu, Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and Benito Villamarín.

The process that will be followed to improve the Cartagonova will start with the removal of the vegetation cover, will continue with the provision of a complete drainage network with new pipes, the base preparation of the pitch with its leveling, conditioning of the irrigation system through the placement of 35 sprinklers and finally the installation of the natural grass of the Ray Grass variety, which will come in Magnum format in rolls of 1'2x12 meters, resplendent with the variety Bermudas, which will come later.

It should be noted that the latter type is much stronger and withstands better the high summer temperatures.

SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL FEDERATION AND THE ADMINISTRATIONS

The total cost of this intervention will be 150,000 euros plus VAT, which will be covered by funds raised in the clash between the U21 and Slovakia on 14 November in the albinegro fief, donated by the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia, and the support of municipal and regional governments.

The 'Efesé' provides for an attendance to this duel of between 8,000 and 10,000 spectators and, although the price of the localities is not yet known - since the regional federation, who is the one who manages them, intends to have a similar cost to the of the meeting that will face the group led by Albert Celades against Iceland in the New Condomina of Murcia on November 9 - which is expected to cover between 30% and 40% of the total of the work.

The Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, through the Ministry of Sports, brings 45,000 to the City Council, given that the Cartagena Coliseum is municipal ownership, the Consistory will put whatever remains to pay for the next two budgets.

The new pitch will debut in the league match that will measure those of Alberto Monteagudo with the San Fernando CD the same weekend in which the works are finalized.

The president of FC Cartagena has clarified that he has tried to negotiate with the rival club to play the first leg in his field and the return in the albinegro fief but he has not accepted the exchange and federative level there were many complications.

However, Belmonte also noted that the company made sure that there are no problems in this regard and that once the intervention is finished can be played immediately.

AN INTERVENTION NEEDED

Juan Pedro Torralba recalled that the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, gave instructions before leaving town to seek agreements with different administrations as well as municipal budget to plant a new lawn given the poor state of the current, taking special consideration the fact that the 'Efesé' is still alive in the Cup and will face a Champions League team like Sevilla FC and that soon will be played the match the Spanish Sub-21.

"We must respond to FC Cartagena with the same dedication and dedication that they put to take our name to the top of football," said the first edil in office, who also thanked the Autonomous Community and Sports Counselor his predisposition to collaborate.

Adela Martínez-Cachá has reiterated the commitment of the regional government with Cartagena, something that in its opinion is demonstrated by the search "in extremis" of items that could be "destined for this purpose".

The minister has said that "after three decades" without renewing the tapestry investment is "more than justified" to improve this "infrastructure that is a benchmark in this city and that for the Cartagena has a lot of meaning."

He also referred to the tight deadlines, due to the proximity of the match against Sevilla FC and the arrival of the Spanish Under-21 National Team.

"We have responded in time," he said.

"For all Cartagena is important and if it is important for the Cartagena is important for the regional government and it is important for the sports councilor," he said.

Likewise, Martinez-Cachá has welcomed the collaboration between executives.

"Local and regional authorities are aiming for a goal and we are able to get it right, we push in the same direction," he said.

Francisco Belmonte has described the day as "a spectacular day", given that "in a few weeks" the club that has managed to "communicate that the debt of the club is zero, which comes the Spanish Under-21 Team" to a team of Champions and that in the coming days will begin the works of the pitch of the Cartagonova stadium, of the stadium of all the cartageneros ".

The president of the entity has recalled that the green had not changed since the construction of the albinegro coliseum in 1988, so he has expressed his gratitude to the mayor, the mayor of Sports, Ricardo Segado, the Minister of Sports, Adela Martínez- Cachá, and the president of the Murcia Federation, José Miguel Monje.

"This step is historic," said Belmonte, who added that "the club is growing at a giant pace" and that the entity places Cartagena "among the best cities in Spain as it deserves."
