The Plenary approves the initiative of José López (MC) to promote a regulatory agreement between the City Council and the Port Authority (28/09/2017)

The Consistorial Palace has hosted this morning the ordinary session of the Plenary of the City of Cartagena.

During the same, an initiative of José López (MC) has been approved so that the City Council requires the Port Authority of Cartagena to, as soon as possible, establish a framework agreement of collaboration with the local administration.

In the same, the contribution of each of the parties to the improvement of the port environment and to the safety of its activity and of the zone should be fixed.

In this way, it aims to put an end to the dispersion and lack of creation of the existing agreements on infrastructure and the lack of a security agreement.

In addition, this agreement would establish a monitoring committee made up of technicians from the areas of Citizen Security and Sustainable Development.

"All this for the benefit of society and in fair correspondence for the risk that we support the Cartagena for port management to be positive," said José López.

The interaction between the Port Authority and the City of Cartagena "is constant", as has been reported by the spokesman of the Cartagena formation.

In this sense, he stressed that "port activity and the integration of the port with the city are the two axes of this relationship," in addition to remembering that historically have signed agreements and other documents of various kinds that have been creating a diffuse framework of collaboration.

Likewise, López stressed that "the inhabitants of Cartagena bear the risk of supplying two refineries, which makes the operating account more than satisfactory, without these benefits in the municipality."

At the same time, it has outlined the "multiple efforts" made during this term with the objective of achieving a framework agreement that includes the obligations of each of the parties in the port environment, its renewal and maintenance, and as an agreement for the prevention and extinction of fires.

"It is not a question of being alarmists here," José López explained, "but we must be realistic, and the risk of the port and its bulk is added to the situation of jihadist alert, without the Port Authority has given way to the front cover that need ".

Finally, the spokesman of the Municipal Group MC has called for "a loyal collaboration between administrations and, in this case, between the Port of Cartagena and its City Council, in order to optimize the relationship and interaction of the port environment with the city and ensure security in times when this is more necessary than ever.
