Young people up to 35 years of age trained in digital competitions with the Digital Employment training program (27/09/2017)

The training program 'Digital Employment', organized by Fundación Telefónica with the collaboration of the City of Cartagena, will seek to reduce the number of unemployed in the municipality and reduce the digital divide between young people from 18 to 35 years old with a new training.

This was announced on Wednesday, September 27, the Councilor for New Technologies of Cartagena, Francisco Aznar, who was accompanied in the presentation of this program by the director of Fundación Telefónica, Joan Cruz;

the regional director of Telefónica in the Region of Murcia, Angel Lloret, and the manager of the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE), Manuel Mora.

The mayor of New Technologies has stressed that this is a zero cost agreement for the City of Cartagena consisting of a course that will allow 25 young people to learn to develop applications for mobile phones and in which the ADLE has collaborated, with the capture of dissemination of the program;

the Department of Youth, which contributes to attracting students to those who may be interested;

and the Data Processing Center (CPD) of the Department of New Technologies, which will be in charge of adjusting the rooms in which classes will be taught with the installation of computers and the Wi-Fi network.

With a duration of five months, it will begin at the end of October and will end in March 2018. The course, highlighted by Francisco Aznar, seeks not only the employment insertion for others, but also self-employment.

It will have a schedule of 8.30 to 14.00 hours and will be held in a classroom enabled for this program in the Department of Youth.

"In recent years, the development of mobile technologies has become an upward value for virtually all technological companies," said Aznar, stressing the importance of obtaining specific training in this sector, while recalling that, in the last decade, "one in seven technology-based companies born in Spain was created in the Region of Murcia."

NOVEL FORMATION AND LABOR INSERTION OVER 80%

For its part, the director of Fundación Telefónica recalled that this training itinerary is part of a project launched a year and a half ago, the Digital Employment program, with a job placement rate of more than 80%.

The program presents two elements "that make it special".

In this way, in the last month the participants will do a project for a local company, after establishing contact with it, which "will allow us to know the young people that are formed in the project, and that they work on realities ".

In addition, the training, which totals almost 500 hours of training, includes 60 training in transversal skills, where they will learn to write a curriculum, prepare an interview, agile methodologies and entrepreneurship.

"We have been working on training issues for more than 20 years, and three years ago we understood that we had to take a step further and work on training issues related to employment," said Cruz, who said that "it was one of the needs basic of the young ".

Along these lines, as a foundation within a technology company, they understood the need to help young people improve their digital skills.

In turn, he said that "there is a need for digital jobs that are not covered" and has specified that "until 2020 there will be more than 850,000 jobs to be created linked to the digital sector," although the training system "does not is being able to respond to these needs that the market is demanding. "

For this reason, the Digital Employment project was launched, which will make "very specialized and concrete training during five very intensive months".

Thus, the itinerary to be carried out in Cartagena will be that of mobile applications, although, according to it has advanced, "sure to be first of a line of collaboration" that will include Java, programming languages, Big Data, Cybersecurity or video games.

To participate in this training program, which offers 25 places and is totally free, young people must be between 18 and 35 years old.

It is only required to have obtained the title of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and previous knowledge in computer science is not necessary.

Interested parties can request information by going to the Young Area of the Department of Youth or the ADLE.

At the same time, Ángel Lloret has emphasized the will of both parties, the City of Cartagena and Fundación Telefónica, so that this formative program could be put into action, while agreeing with Joan Cruz that there will be more actions of this type in the port city in the future.

"It is a personal commitment, as director of the Region of Murcia, to continue betting on this city and this City Council," he said.

He has also been confident that the proposal of this occasion "will be a success", taking place in a technological and industrial focus as important as Cartagena, which has the Escombreras Valley and the Polytechnic.

COLLABORATION OF THE ADLE

the manager of the ADLE has considered "very interesting" the training offered by Fundación Telefónica in Cartagena in the coming months "for the contents offered, which are very in accordance with the demands of the labor market, and also for being training itineraries that have specific training and guidance. "

In turn, he recalled that from the ADLE is going to complement this training with resources that counts the agency of guidance for job search and advice to entrepreneurs.

"Among all of us, we can carry out an important action," he said, while at the same time hoping that at least the students participating in this program "improve their chances of accessing the labor market."

The presentation for the 25 selected will be on October 31, so that the sessions will begin on the first Monday in November and will run until March 2018.
