Anibal and Himilce sealed their union this Monday and that of Iberia and Carthage (19/09/2017)

General Hannibal and Princess Himilce have already united their paths and, with them, the paths of the Carthaginians and the Iberians.

Yesterday, Monday, September 18, the weddings of both characters were celebrated in an event that crowded with more than a thousand attendees, as usual, the bleachers and the seating area of ​​the stage of the Port.

The wedding of the Carthaginian general and the Iberian princess is one of the central and most popular acts of the Carthaginians and Romans, with a staging that includes fireworks, group dances, animals and hundreds of festivities of all participating troops.

During the evening were present the acting mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba;

the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez;

and the mayor of Culture, David Martinez, as well as the president of the Autonomous Community and proclaimer of the holidays this 2017, Fernando López Miras;

the spokeswoman for the regional government, Noelia Arroyo;

the President of the Federation of Troops and Legions, José Antonio Meca, and councilors of political groups with representation in the City of Cartagena.

The work began at 21.00 with the proclamation of the young Aníbal Barca as general of the Carthaginians after the death of his brother-in-law, Asdrúbal 'El Hermoso', after which Hannibal transmits to his generals his decision to continue with the approach line to the Iberian peoples that began its predecessor.

When he appears before them, the narrowing between both civilizations materializes with the proposal of the king Mucro de Cástulo to be united in marriage Hannibal and his daughter, Princess Himilce.

Although at first both young people show their reluctance to a marriage for convenience, especially the young woman, who even faces her father, little by little love between the two arises.

During the matrimonial liaison all the Carthaginian troops participated, in an act that had several novelties in this edition like music composed especially for the event.

After the performance, the nuptial procession, composed of the bride and the troops, paraded from the Port to the festive Camp, where during the night various troops such as Mercenaries of Lobetania, Tartessos Kingdom, Tire Troops, Illustrious Indians, Iberian Mercenaries or Lusitana Cavalry, performed weddings according to various traditional Iberian and Carthaginian rites for all those interested until well into the night.
