Students of the Virgin of Carmen and San Isidoro could choose how to improve their educational centers within the Participatory Budget (15/09/2017)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, presented this Friday, September 15, the new call for Participatory Budgets for 2018 in the City of Cartagena, where the main novelty is the participation of the students of CEIP Virgen del Carmen and the IES San Isidoro, which will have an economic endowment to choose improvements in their centers, as well as the increase of the budget line up to 2 million euros so that the neighbors of the municipality choose what will be invested during the next year.

This was announced by the mayor of Cartagena, who was accompanied in the presentation by the councilman of Decentralization and Good Government, Juan Pedro Torralba, and the mayor of Finance and Contracting, Isabel Garcia.

During the presentation, the mayor and the councilors have debuted the details of the new edition of the participatory budgets in Cartagena, where the students of 6th Primary Education of the Virgen del Carmen and 4º ESO of San Isidoro will count with a heading within the assignments from their respective districts to choose which works and best will be invested within the facilities of their educational centers.

In this sense, explained the mayor, for the Virgin of Carmen will be allocated 10,000 euros of those destined for District 4 and, to San Isidoro, will be allocated the amount of 15,000 euros, within the budget for District 3. The city council has promised that the selected projects will be completed before the end of the course, "so that they can see that project that they have chosen and that has become a reality."

In addition, this year may make up to three investment proposals per person for the City Council to carry out, and will accept all those that have technical, economic and legal viability.

As for the calendar of this edition, the information, dissemination and debate phase, which will include meetings in the different districts and councils of the municipality, will start this Monday, September 18, until October 11.

From the 16 to the 29 of October will open the period of collection of proposals for, from 2 to 10 November start with the prioritization of the same.

The proposals will be evaluated from November 13 to 30, and from 1 to 19 December, the voting time will be opened.

Finally, on December 21 of this year the results will be made public.

The mayor of Hacienda and the mayor have been very excited and satisfied with the second call of these participatory budgets, following the pilot experience of last year.

Thus, Isabel Garcia recalled that it seeks to give voice and vote to neighbors and has announced that all projects finally selected in 2016 are already in execution, although in different phases.

With this new appointment, the call has been improved, with a simpler web page seeking to facilitate participation and ensure a more equitable distribution of funds.

Juan Pedro Torralba, for his part, has detailed all the information regarding the distribution of funds by districts, and explained that on the website will be able to know the procedures for the presentation and voting of proposals, while detailing the documentation and who can participate.

Thus, all persons over 16 years of age registered in Cartagena, as well as entities registered in the Register of Associations of the City with their inscription renewed this year, as well as associations, foundations, unions, professional associations and entities with legal status attributed .

Finally, the mayoress wanted to highlight the logo of this initiative, in which you can see seven people, representing the seven districts of the municipality, with their arms entwined, in a gesture that symbolizes solidarity and with the common goal of improving among all Cartagena.

AREA OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND TRANSPARENCY

The project of participatory budgets has been the main issues that was approved this morning in the extraordinary session of the Local Government Board, in which, in addition to approving the multi-year expenses for contracting the cleaning service, transportation of users and corrective maintenance of the centers of estancias of El Algar and Los Dolores, the mayor has noticed, among others, the decree of modification of the areas of municipal government.

Specifically, referring to the creation of the Area of ​​Government of Sustainable Development and Transparency, whose head will be María José Soler, who will also assume the functions that until now had the director general of Infrastructures, which has been accepted to cease.

Also has been given a new denomination of the area that has Juan Pedro Torralba, that as a consequence of the above happens to denominate of Citizen Participation and Good Government.
