MC shows his concern with the improvisation of the performances in the House of the Child (10/09/2017)

Segado is confident that the performances announced will not respond to the 'window dressing so typical of these political times'

This weekend the Minister of Education, Adela Martínez-Cachá (PP), has reported that a project on the Casa del Niño in Cartagena is being drafted.

The known data are that in its first phase it is expected a period of execution of a few months, which will conclude at the end of the current year and which will consist of "a complete remodeling of the whole building, which will affect the former assembly hall, toilets and old chapel, with a total area of 350 square meters and 95 square meters of gallery access.

Given this information it is good to remember that at the proposal of MC Cartagena the municipal plenum requested the BIC declaration of the House of the Child as a monument, a procedure that has been initiated by the ministry of law for inactivity of the Ministry of Culture, as reported by formation cartagenerista the past 29 of July.

Thus, after six months without obtaining a response from the competent body, said building is self-instituting itself with Cultural Interest (article 13.2 of Law 4/2007 of March 16) and enjoys the protection granted by the law for listed properties of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, which must ensure its integrity through the Ministry of Culture.

Ricardo Segado, mayor of MC and Councilor for Culture and Heritage said: "We are concerned that the Ministry of Education can make a serious mistake and that it frustrates the fair expectations of the educational community of Casa del Niño (CEIP Hemanos San Isidoro and Santa Florentina.) They may have estimated that the first phase of the project they are developing will culminate at the end of the current year, but the Ministry of Culture has not yet completed the procedure mandated by the law in Article 13.5, which consists of publishing the resolution in the BORM ".

Segado explains "the special protection of the Casa del Niño at this time requires authorizations and cultural reports to intervene in it. We wish that Adela Martínez-Cachá confirm the families affected and society in general that has taken into account the law of heritage regional, and in particular the limitations to alter volume, carry out subdivisions or aggregations and, in general, changes that distort the harmony of the whole ".

The councilor of MC also recalled that "we are in September and there are still no signs of the actions budgeted to install in the Casa del Niño the regional restoration workshop, have not removed the barracks, and not even published the opening of the BIC declaration procedure ".

"Children have been in barracks for a decade, they and the building have been abandoned to their fate by three counties, social pressure has got them to decide to act, now we hope it is by the way of legality and not be a new sample of improvisation and window dressing so typical of these political times, because the educational community and Cartagena in general deserve the respect that has been denied in cases like this "concludes Segado.
