'Heryca;

Sirus' travels inspire his name in the elephant of the Carthaginian General Hannibal, who accompanied him on his journey through the Alps and the Italian Peninsula to confront Rome in the Second Punic War.

This collective exhibition in which 16 artists from Cartagena, its region and the Region participate, intends to complement and enrich the celebrations of Carthaginians and Romans as well as unite them with various branches of plastic art.

The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the president of the group that organizes the exhibition, Art Nostrum, Antonio Vidal, along with the commissioner of the same, Javier Lorente, the vice president of the Federation of Troops and Legions of Carthaginians and Romans, Ramón Jerez , and the director of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, Elena Ruiz, have presented this Monday the collection of 147 works in which the different artists offer their particular vision of these parties and the time in which they are set through disciplines such as painting , sculpture, photography or engraving and styles such as realism, expressionism, pop art or street art.

The exhibition will be open to the public from this Friday, September 8 at 8:00 p.m. (in the Town Hall Square) until the end of October in the Palace and Roman Theater, and in the exhibition 13 artists from the group Art Nostrum next to three of the Shire that do not belong to the association.

In addition, during the two months that will be running the show there will be parallel activities such as talks, round tables, workshops for children and adults, etc.

in order that the people integrate and participate and, likewise, that the exhibition be useful historically.

Álvaro Peña, Marcos Amorós, Belén Orta, Sáenz de Elorrieta, Piedad M. Torres, Salvador Torres, Antonio Vidal Máiquez, Esteban Bernal, Jorge García Aznar, Kraser, Luis Mariano, Olga R. Pomares, Pérez Casanova, Rosana Sitcha, Torregar and Javier Lorente are the names of the artists who will exhibit in this exhibition for which, in some cases, the festivities themselves have given up their tools as material on which the creators can express themselves.

FACETA SOLIDARIA

On the other hand, it also has a solidarity plot as a counterpoint to the warlike character of the historical holidays, with a solidarity with the victims of the present wars (mainly the children) from a collection of 17 ceramic pieces that are reproductions of the season intervened by the 16 artists of the exhibition and one of Elena Ruiz that will go on sale by auction to help this cause.

The idea is to sell them all together in one batch.

"Cartagena exports history and for some time also exports talent", affirmed the mayor of Culture, who in reference to the artists participating in this exhibition has asserted that "they are the best ambassadors" of this land "nationally and international".

Likewise, David Martínez has defined the exhibition as "a unique exhibition that has not been seen in history" and that will lead the visitors, "through the present, to that past, to live historical episodes walking through time."

For its part, the curator of the exhibition has described it as a "magnificent project" and highlighted the illusion of seeing it already in progress, while saying that "is an example of how civil society, if well structured and working united, with the support of the different administrations, can get real wonders to offer the citizens. "

The vice-president of the Federation of Troops and Legions has pointed out that this exhibition "is tremendous in quality and in terms of number of works" and has stressed that its theme "has to do with Carthaginians and Romans, with that time, with the legacy Roman, Iberian and Carthaginian ".

Elena Ruiz has emphasized, in this sense, that "it is a tribute to the festeros and a tribute to the history of the city".

A COLLECTIVE THAT STARTS STRONG

The group Art Nostrum is a group of 15 artists that includes creators of the Region of which a good number are Cartagena.

This is his seventh exhibition in the year and a half he has been running.

Previously they had already done it in the MURAM, in Torredembarra, Gijón and Blanca, and also outside the national borders with two samples in Italy, specifically in Daverio and Milan.
