The mayor of Festejos has highlighted the bet of this festival, which is celebrated from 1 to 5 August, along the coast of Cartagena |

The XIV International Festival of Improvised Poetry Trovalia arrives this August with representatives from the Region of Murcia, Valle del Genil in Malaga, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia and Argentina.

This has been announced by the Councilor of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, who has highlighted the presence of payadores, repentistas, decimeros, musicians and troubadours in this festival heir of the National Contest of Trovo.

In the presentation was accompanied by the president of the Association Trovera 'José María Marín', Juan José García Parra, and the representative of this association, organizer of the festival, Emilio del Carmelo Tomás.

The councilman pointed out that the festival is integrated into the program of the council that runs in order "to maintain throughout the summer a constant cultural offer with special attention to coastal populations."

And is that, they have scheduled performances not only in Cartagena, but also in Los Nietos, Isla Plana and Mar de Cristal.

Thus, the festival will start next Tuesday, August 1, with the concert at the Club Náutico de Los Nietos, at 10:00 p.m.

Wednesday 2, will play the turn of Cartagena, with a performance in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

On Thursday, August 3, will be a day of rest without performances in which participants can get to know Cartagena better.

The last days of the festival, August 4 and 5, the performances will return to the Mar Menor, specifically to the Plaza de la Iglesia de Isla Plana and the Paseo Marítimo de Mar de Cristal, both at 10:00 p.m.

Torralba has expressed its gratitude to the trovera association for its work and effort so that every year, artists from other areas join the festival, while at the same time it has influenced the work done jointly between the council and the José association María Marín "to maintain the integrity of the native features and characteristic of the Cartagena Trogo".

In 2003, the disappeared contest adopted a new format in which the competitive character disappeared and became a festival with international projection Hispanic-speaking.

In this way, Trovalia has welcomed, as the Mayor of Festejos recalled, the actions of troveros, repentistas, registradores and payadores of countries like Cuba, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Panama.

For his part, the president of the Trofé Association José María Marín has highlighted the presence of the best figures in the improvised poetry of the current South American panorama, such as Puerto Rican Roberto Silva and Juan Ramon Figueroa, as well as other old acquaintances of the festival, Ricardo Pino And Leandro Camargo, who last year "thrilled us and made hundreds of people cry at the door of the Iglesia de Isla Plana."

He has emphasized the presence of young repentistas and three improvisational women, Cuban Yunet López Laila García, in addition to the Colombian Elisabeth Henao 'La Chava', who recently made the First Prize of La Trova, while Expressed its gratitude to the City of Cartagena for its support to the festival both within the municipality and the Autonomous Community as well as outside regional borders and internationally.

Finally, Emilio del Carmelo Tomás has assured that this festival, "more than a project, is a dream" and has proposed the organization, every four years, of a trove contest, with the aim of enriching the thunder.

In turn, has assured that Trovalia "has made a qualitative jump very strong" and has claimed that it reaches the relevance of the Sea of ​​Songs or the nights of the Towers.

"We are twinning with the voices, the word, the repentismo and the improvised poetry of other cultures that speak of our past", he emphasized, at the same time that it has influenced in that "it makes Cartagena bigger".
