"Engineers will be missing," says the rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT) Alejandro Díaz.
Therefore, "the union of the four polytechnical universities of Spain, their social councils and the Royal Academy of Engineering will be very strong in order to face this intense demand and offer well-trained engineers and companies".
Díaz has made these demonstrations during the meeting in Cartagena of the UP4 alliance, attended by rectors and vice-rectors of the Polytechnic of the Region and their counterparts in Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia.
In today's work meeting it has been agreed to promote actions and programs aimed at promoting scientific-technical careers among young people as a tool for social progress.
The government teams of the four polytechnics have studied, among other mobility projects, collaboration agreements with some of the most prestigious universities, such as Princeton, Berkeley and Rochester.
Online and semi-private degrees taught jointly between the polytechnics, double degrees and a shared bag of electives have been other projects that have been promoted during today's meeting.
The association of the four Spanish polytechnical universities has also addressed the new SOLUTIONS technology challenge for researchers launched by companies looking for innovative solutions to real problems.
With the aim of 'adding to multiply', the four polytechnics have decided that their researchers seek formulas for the exploitation of the patents they generate and hold joint seminars to inform companies about the applicability of the research they develop.
The polytechnics are already preparing simultaneous actions on the occasion of the World Day of Creativity and Innovation, to be held on 21 April.
This is the second time that the UP4 alliance meets in Cartagena, in this case with the unique presence of the Presidents of the Social Councils and the Royal Academy of Engineering.
