The Musical Union Cartagonova finishes preparations to participate in the International Music Band Contest of Valencia (21/07/2017)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, visited the El Batel Auditorium this Thursday, July 20, to attend the trial of the Cartagonova Musical Union, which prepares its participation in the International Bands Contest Of Music of Valencia.

During the meeting, the mayor wished the Carthaginian musicians luck to repeat the successes harvested in the past.

The Musical Union will compete in the first section of the contest this Saturday, July 22, with the Cultural Society 'La Primitiva' of Rafelbunyol (Valencia), Musical Association of Rosal (Pontevedra) and Grand Symphonic Winds (United States).

This year the event has a prominent international presence, with the participation of formations from Colombia, the Netherlands, Germany and the United States.

The Cartagonova will put on the stage of the Palau de la Música a total of 104 musicians.

They are mostly young students, although it also counts among its members with prestigious orchestras from Spain and other countries in Europe, such as the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra or Concertgebouw Amsterdam Orchestra, among others.

In its internship, the Unión Musical Cartagonova will interpret a program composed by the pasodoble 'Suspiros de España' by Antonio Álvarez, and 'Tierra Mítica' (I.- Mediterranean Arch, II.- Nocturno and Dance in the nights of full moon III. - The Sea, IV.- The Blessed Land) by Bernardo Adam Ferrero, as a free play.

As a must, the four bands participating in this section of the contest will play 'Everest', Jordi Peiró.
